There will still be debt with digital currencies (CBDCs). Most developed nations run budget deficits. While you are in deficit, debt is inevitable. It’s not as simple as saying “lol, we don’t use that currency any more, so wont pay anything” or “lol, we’re using this new currency so will hyperinflation our debt away”. That’s not knocking XRP by the way. Fundamentally, it’s a winner. Look at the ECB’s report on CBDCs. They show a lot of concern about a digital EUR being offshored in significant quantities. Other Central Banks will have the same concerns. The solution to that is XRP - a bridge asset (not a currency) that allows for easy transfer of value without transferring currency (buy XRP with $ in the US and simultaneously sell XRP in € in Europe, transferring value without any movement of currency).

The doomsday “sky is falling”/NWO/death of fiat stuff is not really helpful though as it detracts from the fact that XRP is a simple and useful tool with a defined target market which it is currently by far in the lead to win.

You're pretty much there anon. Ripple has built a remittance/transfer protocol on the XRP ledger. So they are positioning themselves to utilize it as a bridge asset in domestic and international settlement. You could make the argument that this is currently the single most relevant application of distributed ledger technology. Recently we have seen a rush of legislation, spurned on by the threat of Chinese CBDC dominance, that is specifically focused on areas where Ripple has spent the last three years building relationships with legislative/governing bodies. The key, and the area where Ripple is most focused, is interoperability. It is likely that within the next few years almost every developed nation will have issued a CBDC. Without interoperability, global finance doesn't work in the era of govt issued digital currencies.

In regards to SWIFT, total replacement is not likely (and was never the goal) but there is a situation developing where Ripple will utilize the XRP ledger alongside SWIFT GPI in a sort of financial threesome with R3 to develop multiple "payment rails" to capture the entire settlement market. To use Garlicbreads words, Ripple is focused on utilizing the XRPL to enable the so-called "internet of value". Much like TCP/IP, Ripple is developing the protocol that will enable state backed CBDCs to communicate with global finance.
