Motor companies assemble parts from tons of different manufacturers together into cars, very few parts are made in house, it has always been this way.
They have to actually invest in EV companies to use their transmissions, battery packs, etc. If you've noticed basically all EV related news from car companies is them purchasing or making deals with EV companies to use their resources in some way, it's never that they developed new tech themselves, they don't actually have the capability to build everything, they have limited fab volume. I remember a news story recently where one American car company (not sure which) buys their EV transmissions from Tesla now.

Entirely depends on your tolerance of adding time to your wait before either buying a house or moving.
Opening a position in a fund is generally a good idea, a big chunk of my portfolio is in VUSA.
If line go up then you're good to go but line might go down just before you want to liquidate your position, which means you have to add time on to get your desired return. Bear that in mind.
