Anything beyond algebra one is totally unnecessary for a lot of fields, e.g. accounting.

So is having the ability to read beyond a 7th grade level. That doesn't mean that you're not stupid if you can't do it.

What's the difference between biz calc and regular calc?

>> No.229710

>>229697
biz calc - only need to know derivatives and optimization
calc - have to know calc

It's this thread again...

if somebody were to tell you that he didn't understand how fractions work, would you think him intelligent?

>> No.229738

>>229725
Fractions are both much simpler and much more useful in everyday life than calculus.

>> No.229747

>>229738
if you do anything involves compound interest, modelling any phenomenon mathematically or statistically, operations management, etc. you use calculus in everyday life.

Ahhahaha, oh wow. Keep telling yourself that, it keeps the actual competition from getting way too high

Most people I know don't.

There is only one job that requires high level maths, and that's an actuary. Yes, having more math/stats courses under the belt can help you out, but a math major is just overkill, unless you can somehow find an application of chaos and fractals or vector spaces to finance. Protip: you can't.

Nonetheless, only plebs pick biz math. Regular calc is easy enough for a kid to do.

It's really just proof that you aren't an idiot who will try and take the easy way out if he doesn't think it's 100% necessary at the time.

If you're bad at math but still did regular calc (and have a shitload of other projects to make up for it) then it shows you're willing to go outside of your comfort zone and make it work.

If you had no problem in calc then it shows you have the minimum level of intelligence required to do more than operate a cash register.

There's no reason not to take Calc I & II, maybe even III if you're a go-getter.

My friend's friend's cousin did maths at UCL and got a job after he graduated. He worked with a major investment bank (don't know which one) and he made around £200 million and retired at the age of 28).

I don't even understand what you post. Anyways, I'm not even a cs major, faggot. I spoke to a few cs students that shared a class with me. They told me some of vector calculus shit is actually useful in their projects.
