its not bad. If you use Registered account to buy a house. You have to start to pay it back one year after the purchase date. Payments are made over a 15yrs period iirc until you are caught up. The TFSA is better for a down payment on a house though, because there is no obligation to pay back into the account.

If you want to place a short term bet based on the coming news, do it, but don't blame anon if it goes the wrong.
If you want to place a long term bet based on the health of the economy regardless of stimulus, same thing. Do it if you're comfortable, don't if you're not.
FWIW, I would be heavy in TQQQ right now except I predict we don't need stimulus, and won't get one, but enough investors expect it and think we need it to save the economy so there's going to be a big retraction.

graduate high school, go to code academy or get an associate's degree, get programming job starting at 50k when you're 18-20

1)Start with 10k at some point in this time span and contribute 1k a month for 10 years at 8-12% return
2) after 10 years you have 217k, use your increased salary to contribute 2k a month
3) you're now around 40 and have 1mil invested, use your increased salary to contribute 3k a month
4) you're now 50 and have over 3 mil invested. enough where even 5% returns allow you to have a yearly income of 150k.
5) retire in comfort at age 50. and due to advances in medical tech remain active and happy for another 70 years.

Option 2
1)throw all the money you earn at meme stocks you read about on /biz/ and lose everything you invest for the first 2 years
2) get slightly better and make an average annual return of 5% while spending ALL your free time researching

Well Im winning but i just keep crabbing an am down right sick of it. Can only go back 3 months on my chart otherwise it shows my overwhelming (unrealized) victory towering over the rest of the account.

What the heck is the point of diversification!? Almost everytime i do this all my holdings end up being down 5% shortly after and crabbing. Only to eventually sell...and soon thereafter it pumps to breakeven.

Any advice? As at this point it feels like I'm just handing over control regarding stock choices to my instincts which seem more capable at stocks than my mind.
