>the year is 2030
>you didn't make it, having lost all your money on gold or shitcoins when the government forcibly took them from you as per the Powell Act 2023
>alternatively you invested in stocks but you didn't make it when the Great Rugpull of 2022 happened.
>you work 40/hr weeks at your McJob for slightly above minimum wage
>you pay 40% of your income in rent for your shoebox apartment, real estate being the asset class that the government did not allow to fail
>listed real estate trusts own 60% of all property in the united states
>boomers, now in their 70s and 80s, own 20%
>rich landbanking foreigners own the final 20%
>a politician who says that capital is destroying our lives says that if elected, homeownership will be declared a share in a country and therefore a human right, and xe will make investing in real estate illegal
>all land currently held by investors will be expropriated and given to the current tenants (you)
>everyone will be allowed to own the house they live in, and no landlord will be turfed out of their own home
Answer honestly. Would you vote for the politician or not, and why?

Don't be silly. We won't make it. If precious metals ever got expensive enough that /pmg/ was going to make it, then the government would simply discover new industrial uses for gold and silver and tell the public these metals need to be confiscated because hoarders are holding back progress and taking away jobs.
Same thing with crypto - governments would illegalise them/tax them to oblivion on the grounds that all this money would be better served in the hands of the people rather than greedy selfish speculators who look to get rich instead of creating jobs or donating to charity.

I'm not a commie by any means. I made this thread to gauge /biz/ sentiment on whether people are waking up to the grip capital has over almost every aspect of our lives, but it seems that people would prefer to LARP that they're going to be rich and get ahead of everyone else trying to do the exact same thing even though they're at such a disadvantage. You make exponentially more money by having money than by actually having a job, but everyone here hopes they'll buy just the right stocks at just the right time to make it out of the rat race. It'll never happen, and eventually people will wake up to that and a new class of commie politicians will exploit that.

I doubt that given this situation, said nation would still be governed democratically anon

In my mind all I see is firebombs, hatred, chaos and children in rags.

>firebombs, hatred, chaos and children in rags.
don't call it a grave, it's the future you chose.

I'm not sure if you can call a society which is governed by two almost identical parties a democracy though. It has become much easier to make smalltime issues like gays/trans/idpol/whatever into the defining difference between parties than it is to tackle big issues like "why is everyone so poor and miserable when everything is great on paper".

I mean, Trump got elected against all odds on the basis that he called out the bullshit. America is slowly dying. Your average american is becoming an unemployed, hopeless opiod addict who even though working a fulltime job, can't afford to provide for his own family.
Then as president Trump, he turns around and says 'we're gonna own the libs, we're going to make abortion illegal again', or whatever bullshit social politics flavour of the month issue, and completely drops the idea that America is in serious, serious trouble. He goes as far as to say that now he's in charge, the economy is perfect and all is well, if only the blue people weren't getting in the way.

Even when the children are in rags and firebombs are being thrown in the street, the average starving american will be arguing with his neighbour about whether cats should be allowed to pee on trees like dogs do.

So what is your point? I mean obviously we are in a puppet show clown world but I mean in your proposed hypothetical situation "the US" would be in an outwardly normie recognized non democratic state. The suffering we as a people would increase exponentially leading to and beyond your hypothetical.
Tbh I have treated life as a comedy show for as long as I can remember and will enjoy my time here laughing at the state of human affairs

If it goes the other way somehow and we claw ourselves from the pit then great I would love to ride in a spaceship one day. That being said if I lost any opportunity to rise above a tyrannical government and was subjected to such a nightmare I would very much consider giving my life as a token of disgust toward the human race and the conditions we have drawn upon ourselves.

>> No.22907539

I would vote for that right now
Real estate as an investment rather than to use it is unironically the most evil asset class
It creates a de-facto slave caste

Sounds like the same politician that took all my other assets, coming to take the last thing I have left, so no, I would murder them. Remove income tax and only tax assets if you really want to but flipping the rules of the game like that is not going to fly. I would commit to murdering every last communist at that point because why not?

>> No.22908378

real estate as an investment vehicle SHOULD be illegal though. You don't need stocks, precious metals, bonds, or crypto to live, so thats fine. But everyone needs housing, speculation should not be allowed in something so vital for human life

Money is being lent out like its literally going out of style, forcing up unrealistic values based on debt.

If a guy goes to a bank to give a boomer a million dollars for his shitbox plastic mcmansion, because the money was all pretend anyway. No one who wants to live in a house will be able to afford it without getting a big jewish loan.

Also, what I do with trading is peacefully transferring wealth from dumb foreign degens into our economy. So technically I'm a national hero.
