why would anyone ever buy FTSE stocks?
Seriously. It's just old ancient companies that survive on inflation. the UK produces nothing.
Even UK tech sector is lacking in things to publicly invest in.

UK stocks seem like an artifact form a time where buying US stocks was extremely difficult for even more wealthy people. British people unlike Americans have no culture of investing in stocks and companies, and they buy houses instead, which is why housing never seems to go down much.

Now days. 10 years ago it was awkward. 20 years ago it was a pain. anything beyond that and it was pretty fucking hard to get access without having minimum equity of 30,000 GBP (which was more back then) along with all sorts of complex and awkward tax barriers etc.

FTSE has grown but only at rates of inflation if you think about it. and look at it now. Compare this to American stock market. What is the fucking point in British stocks again?

most wealth brits traditionally buy land or homes, as explained.

I am British in England btw. Im just wondering. I haven't found any compelling stocks to invest in our market compared to alternatives. EVERY promising company especially in tech sphere operates privately.

Best performing for me are:
Games Workshop

Waiting for the right time to buy in to Rolls Royce, Lloyd's, Barclays, Shell and BP.

I'm convinced that Rolls Royce will eventually recover spectacularly. It produces nearly half the commercial aircraft engines in the world, and it's main competitor, GE, is an equal shitshow. There's no way the government would allow it to go under, surely?

BP and Shell because they have a decent renewables situation going on and convinced that oil prices will rebound when demand picks up in 2021.

Lloyd's and Barclays because they're relatively well-managed banks.

Thoughts?

been thinking about fucking off crypto and just putting 20k/year into meme vanguard stock and shares isa, but i would want it to track global/american tech if possible.

right now i earn 100kish after tax depending on exchange rate, and i think it'll go down to 80-90k/year after brexit and the collapse of the uk. but i'm not sure if there's going to be another mega crash of stocks or not. what think bros? i've got about 20-25 years left in me of working. along with the 20k/year into the isa i would also buy 1-2k/btc a month but not trading, just collecting

i dont care about gambling on med and low cap stonks. Crypto is 10000x better for doing that.

Im questioning why UK major stocks are so shit. they dont really grow like US major stocks over long term.
