Isn't it crazy how similar it feels like 2017 all over again?

The ico craze of spring/summer? Now substituted by farming
The product-less projects? We went from websites and whitepapers to discords and medium posts
The proof of stake promises of passive income? Now the passive earning through protocol fees
The massive dump after the summer? Same exact thing happened this year.

Will end of the year 2017 repeat itself? magine that on top of a vaccine announcement.

>People still think ethereum needs to be replaced entirely by some underutilized clone project
>People still don't realize layer 2 projects such as unitrade and falconswap will be a much easier/quicker solution to the ethereum scaling issue
>Soon as the scaling issue is resolved, a much larger group of people will have access to liquidity pool farming, etc
>Synthetic stocks are coming soon
>Ethereum 2.0 is launching in a few months

Plenty of good news to start a bull run. As long as the big tech companies don't shit the bed too hard. But given the amount of corruption/power these companies have (+ it's in the best interest of republican mutts), I doubt they will.

There's risk that stablecoins come off peg, risk that bitfinex (controls tether) get's fucked, risk that circle (controls usdc) gets fucked, risk that arbitrageur become the majority making swaps on the usdt/usdc pool thus the fees accrued don't offset the money going into their pockets, there's risk in ethereum shitting the bed so much that no one uses uniswap and volume drops too much and the apy% becomes low.
There's probably other risks like the ethereum network becoming insecure or some solar flare wiping all electronic communication.
Other than the bitfinex risk, the chance of any of these happening is very low.

Not even close to the same. In 2017 normie money was flooding in by the billions. Every single person I know was asking how to buy bitcoin and xrp. Nobody gives a shit about crypto in 2020. No new money is coming in it’s all just pajeets running from one yield farming scam to the next one. The total crypto market cap barely moved on that recent “dump”.

we are def in a new bubble with the defi/uniswap bullshit going on. it looks and feels a lot like 2017 in some ways...but it really has been limited to this small crypto niche...it hasn't spread to the greater market yet. I think we all assumed it would/ or will....maybe it won't. idk

Heh, I don't find that true. Most of the things that pumped hard have a usable product. Some are basic copy / paste but even then there is usability vs. just whitepapers.

To be clear I fucking hate XRPajeets and it brings me great joy seeing those losers go bankrupt as their shitcoin bleeds to zero. You’re retarded if you think normies weren’t buying it during that 2017 fomo bubble though. It was one of 3 coins on coinbase at that time and all my dumbest friends bought it because it was “the cheapest” and no other reason. Either way it’s going to 0:

dai is actually the only decentralized stablecoin
weak points are... it's actually decentralized so you're betting on a system functioning properly, rather than just centralized authorities bailing you out. there's been bugs and hacks in the past, and of course the volatility of the underlying asset ETH when it went from $1400 to $80
but overall the system holds. other point of concern can be governance, which isn't as decentralized. a large part of MKR is mostly owned by VCs, making governance just a few people. but this is true of all so-called DAOs really
in layman speak dai is still muuuch less riskier than tether/finex we-hop-from-banks-to-banks-in-juridictions-known-for-money-laundering-and-you-cannot-audit-our-bankroll-and-also-our-ceo-is-a-fake-identity bullshit. and dai/usdc is actually interesting because dai doesn't maintain a $1 peg perfectly, so you ought to profit more from fees as traders attempt to arbitrage the difference. in theory
