The biggest red flag at this point is if /biz/ is talking about it, it means someone has a bag they'd like to see pumped, not that it's the very beginning of the project and the moon mission is about to start. No you have to buy it before it even hits CG. Honestly the way I do this is going to etherscan token TXNs and keep refreshing while looking into the coins that you haven't seen before. Then either buy on a gamble or DYOR then buy the ones that look least likely to be rugged by some whale or dev. I've 10Xed about 4 coins in the last 3 months doing this but only through in about .5 ETH at most until it became clear that the coin was legit.
