The value of any coin is mostly just in its perceived worth and use. Obviously if it has actual use and function and RL case examples, that is better but that hasn't been strictly true in the crypto scene. E.g. monero is still doing fuck all despite being one of the best prospects in terms of anonymity and scalability.

So airdropping a shit load of it out generated a lot of hype, and created a lot of liquidity right off the bat. A ballsy move, but it seems to have paid off so far.
