Second iteration are governance tokens that serve a utility function within the framework. BZX was attempting to do this but were hacked and scared investors away.

Anyway, we’ll see a development of governing and utility tokens within defi2. Defi2 will involve allocation of borrows (aave) and margin trading (bzx unironically). I think one dapp will come out to refinance your credit card debt at a lower interest rates while holding your crypto for collateral.

Defi is opening the road for future roads.

Bitcoin will never have institutional adoption. at least not at the transfer layer, maybe as a spec investment/value store only.

banks/governments will create a stable coin pegged to a basket of world currencies exactly like Libra (but not Libra). each institution will run a node, or many.

for bitcoin to be adopted by banks and govs is like saying the music industry is going to adopt torrenting as a primary distribution channel. it might be popular, used by the people and provide a great service, but that doesn't mean it will become institutional.
