Forbearance ends after December 2020, and supposedly only 16% of those that have been deferring mortgage will be able to start paying again. Banks are starting to poke at cunts to pay mortgages or to sell now. The idea is they should sell now rather than foreclose at a shittier price later. As such, many houses are being rush-sold to get a decent deal. I looked through a few listings and see some that dropped -60% in price over 1 night. Hoping a similar scenario plays out in the US soon.

It's going to take a mass boomer die-off for the housing market to correct. They control most of the real estate, and yet on the other hand, are notoriously unprepared for retirement. They're going to have to liquidate their real estate in order to retire and that's the only thing I can see happening to allow the housing market to correct.

Or if the mortgage/rent deferrals get quashed and very few are able to get back to where they were economically (pre-COVID), I could see 2008 happening again.
