Redpill me on total-market funds.

https://investor.vanguard.com/etf/profile/VOO
https://investor.vanguard.com/etf/profile/VTI
https://investor.vanguard.com/etf/profile/VT

These graphs look pretty much the same and their largest holdings are FAGMAN.

On VOO vs VTI, I would think that as profit is taken from the largest companies it is re-allocated into other companies, so in theory if you owned the entire stock market it would be a zero-sum game (the big guy dips 1% and the little guy gains 1%). Therefore, you benefit from money entering the *entire* equities market as a whole (the money printers and people's weekly paycheck deferrals).

On VT vs VTI, I could see this benefiting if some poor village in India became the next Silicon Vally and made billionaires; if you were only invested in the American market you would miss out on that growth. Devil's advocate: American companies have global reach and foreign companies can list on our exchanges. If you look at our planet and how much of it is still uninhabited or underdeveloped, there is a lot of growth potential there. Places like America could reach diminishing returns while every other country in the world has to experience their version of the dot-com boom. Devil's advocate again: it would probably be established American mega-corps like FAGMAN laying out developing countries' e-infrastructure (unless China beats us, like in Africa).

You haven't looked into the situation happening with GME right now if you think anyone in a good position would be happy with a measly +40% or even +100% profit. Literally a once in a lifetime situation.

when has a stock ever been shorted this much when the company itself is nowhere close to being bankrupt. All it takes is one whale like Shkreli to take advantage of it especially when it's a relatively small market cap with a lot of shares already locked up in funds and insiders.

but there's no guarantee the Q2 catalysts will be enough to set it off, or that a market wide dump won't cuck us again (holy shit fucking Thursday fuck fuck fuck we were so close to not having to rely on Q2)

i'm on the side that wants the squeeze but I'm curious to know if there's even a way to safely defuse a >100% short interest. Apparently people with S3 have already mentioned that it is really still that high. I wish someone would post a pic though.

The only way I can think of that will bail shorts out is if Gamestop goes bankrupt. Like that's really the only option isn't it? Shorts cover but more idiots jump back in anyways as we've already seen the last week. A game of endurance on whether shorts can survive for a couple more years since Gamestop is clearly safe for at least that long. It's hard for Gamestop to really get a lower valuation, and really unthinkable that a company that's consistently been around ~8 billion annual revenues is even valued this cheap.

Shorts just forgot that gamestop is cyclical and the last cycle was a bit of anomaly where consoles were already so underpowered compared to budget PCs when they came out? This console cycle is legit going to be different thanks to AMD/TSMC. I cannot build a budget PC in the same price range with specs close to the consoles assuming they're $599.

I keep thinking. what the fuck are we missing because it cannot be this fucking easy.

TQQQ is rebalanced daily and saved by circuit breakers. But don't get me wrong, the -70% unrealized loss through March dip is practically losing all your money. No one in the right mind should baghold through that even if it ends up ok months later (<- this is not a guarantee after all).

but yes that statement basically protects them from being sued if you lose everything in a freak event. See what happened to VXX since that went to $0, no circuit breakers to save your ass with VIX since it's just an index

It is an index. It is almost like buying LEAPS across the NASDAQ minus the financial tickers that get buttfucked by low interest rates (mostly banks). So even if there are pump and dumps like TSLA it will be compensated by a bunch of others. As long as there is secular movement of money into tech, either because of market share or money printing, it will go up.
There are two things to worry about with TQQQ. Massive drawdowns that might be avoided by exiting at all costs if the underlying (QQQ) drops below its 200 day average and/or a rising (specifically spiking) volatility. The other is more insiduous, which is crabbing aka "sideways" markets. Google beta slippage for that. However, that would require an equilibrium between asset classes which I just don't see happening for a long time.

with a ghetto bidet, you can drip water down to your anus with a tiny bucket / measuring cup or something
im not kidding. The water will actually reach and wash your anus if you bend over a bit. Then wipe with a lot more toilet paper than usual. Repeat. Basically same idea as a bidet inside your toilet, but thanks to the power of water adhesion you just have to bend a bit.
or a detachable shower head near your toilet, don't have to put it directly under your anus, that's gross. It will drip down to your anus angled from your back if you just bend forward.

i guess they're all the same idea as a bidet though.

moist toilet wipes are cancer, they are not truly flush-able even if they're advertised as.

Untrue. Dividend stocks serve the function that bonds used to. They are more resistant to downturns and provide a steady stream of income. Conventional wisdom says 0% bonds allocation is the correct play in the current market.

Ehh 2 of those 3 have consistenly been giving lower and lower dividends. One was temporarily higher but going down like the rest. Why exactly should i invest the dividend meme when it seems rhe dividend keeps going down even though these businesses shoyld technically have the same business expense year over year. Heck I open a business that these dividends stocks do and earn a more consistent income than they provide (eg buy a house, rent it out only thing affecting income is if I have someone renting which isnt all that hard to accomplish to find someone reliable in paying up). What are they doing? Keep giving themselves raises?

Not mad at you btw. Just mad how these companies love screaming dividends as their best offer only to keep cutting year after year. An established business generally pulls nearly the same return year after year and even on a few bad months ends up getting back to former values (at least the business ideas ive looked into 1 being great yield and 1 being low but far more likely to be a consistent yield with low effort). Yet somehow these companies year over year earn less.

Sony and Xbox have almost nothing extra to offer gamewise over PC especially with that disgusting pay to play online that the fanboys defend hard as heck (probably the same guys who hand their money to twitch thots). short sellers have dug themselves a hole that they can't get out of unless Gamestop goes bankrupt soon. Here's the thing, take a look at gamestop's financials and balance sheet. Like what the fuck is going on, gamestop is nowhere close to bankruptcy

Total market index funds are good in a greater good, bigger picture way but because they are market-weighted they are really not much different from large cap funds. In terms of personal returns on investment compare with mid cap, small cap, and extended market funds where your money will be more directly focused upon the smaller companies who will get bigger portions of capital.

Had a doctor say that. Was aggressive about it too. Have seen too many doctors make horrible recommendations (eg. surgery on something that wasn't even the issue, surgery for something that turned out to be pointless, misdiagnoses on several occasions when the issue was obvious from the start). Ended up demanding xrays or something. He didnt even have the balls to call me. Called the hospital and some random tech or nurse told me i had no arthritis. Ive had better self diagnosis via online research or former knowledge than these so called hospital doctors have offered. What the heck they get paid that much and seem to not even care to do a good job. Literally acting like their a cashier trying to get you out asap but with a bunch of errors on the receipt.

The ones ive made vary from $800 - about $1000 plus it can also be used for non gaming usage. PLUS most games get bigger discounts on PC compared to console eg ($19.99 discount quartrrly versus having to one time discount down to $49.99 on black friday).

>PS5 $499.99 (+$50 or so yearly for online play not including your isp)
>Still need a PC for non gaming purposes $400
>Total $899.99

>Decent gaming PC (avg about $900)
>Total $900 (lets be pessimistic and round it to $1000)

Now if only Nintendo didnt jump on the pay to play online bandwagon i wouldnt feel ripped off.

Thanks for sharing. I read through the article and my main worry is that, although the shift to digital from 2012 to 2019 is overstated, having a digital-only PS5 and Sony pushing for digital sales to promote its ecosystem will accelerate that decline. Of course, that may not matter as much if Gamestop manages to sell much more units of consoles and expands its used games accessories business. Overall I'm still bullish on GME but it is not without risks.
