Came to type this, I was pressured into the uni / work life path. Made to feel worthless when I was searching for jobs with no luck and felt too depressed to try anything on my own.
Stupidly wage slaving and earning some financial freedom allowed me to see the bullshit for what it is and my mental turned.

But it was ok because you could go home and have a good evening with your family and do things on the weekend with them worry-free because you and they were taken care of.

Now you are forced to work a job that will not only crush your spirit and creativity and make you die an empty expended shell, but it will also make you a pit of anxiety while you're alive because now as a worker you are renting a tiny ass apartment or home, living paycheck to paycheck, having your partner working the same kind of job, unable to afford kids or you already have them and stress is killing you because you can barely put food on the table for them let alone give them what they want at christmas. Your only real recourse is to go deeper into debt to afford something approximating the life your parents had. Those kids and your home are left unattended during the day while you and your wife have to work and you return home to eat frozen dinners in a filthy house because neither of you can stay home to cook and clean or hire a nanny. Also none of you have health insurance so god forbid anything happen

Part of me believes its the lifestyle of being a brand-loyal consumer. This. Give me enough to subsist a meager living and I wouldn't be a wagie. Where I've worked there was just payroll and managers literally couldn't "overpay" anyone, they would just be allotted a certain amount of bonuses separate from their own bonus pool (because obviously making someone in charge of their own bonus is retarded) and they'd decide who gets raises each quarter.

Managers were still bonused on keeping costs down in general, though. Whether it's theft for retail or whatever.
