Britbong here, I'm 25 and coming up to my 3rd year working in Software Engineering. I'm worried I'm too old and ingrained into my "career" now to properly travel around for a year and that it'd affect my employability chances upon returning to work as anyone I know who's gone the "wunderlust" route is doing some shitty wagie job afterwards. On top of this I'm looking to rent with my GF soon, I've travelled a lot already, been to Thailand, Dubai, Philippines Maldives and most of Europe and NY so it's not really a big priority.

I've just come to accept the fact on won't get to travel until 2021 at the earliest and even then it'll probably just be some 2 week shitty resort in spain/greece full of pic related.

Think about having a marketable skill to extend your travels.

The best way of making friends in new places is (ironically) work. They'll show you all the good local hubs, you'll be acquainted in a good circle of people for the most part.
Plus (if you aren't a total shitcunt) it creates this feedback loop where you'd get invited back at your host country because you'll be missed as a friend and colleague.

I was a trained load controller prior to my travels and I could pick up any job at an airport/airline because I know how to balance planes and read a manifest (seriously its easy af). It pays relatively well regardless where you live. Plus the more places and companies I worked for the more they wanted to hire me.
I also worked as a divemaster and scuba instructor in Thailand, Indonesia and Philippines and on a cruise ship for a few months. Literally so much pussy you'd get sick of fucking. This also works since women I've had a fling with would often ask when I'd be visiting their native country.... bam, free place to stay.

At one point I had a co-owned premium snapchat with this Norwegian chick when we were road tripping around Australia. Earned a nifty side income basically location spoofing and having simps pay for premade content, with an occasional new picture every other day. I will probably put a ring on that chick, since we have a pretty similar personality.

Alternatively, automated passive income is a way to go. Buy a few investment properties and live off the rent if Rent>Mortgage repayments.

Your choice man, adventure awaits you. or you can sit in a wage cage. Either way I hope you make it.

>DOOD TRAVEL THE WORLD WHEN UR YOUNG XDDD

These people have it backwards. Compounding gains are very, very important to get started early. You grind in your 20's and set up your career and investment enterprise, get the snowball rolling. 30's you keep amassing wealth and at this point you can have a family, then in your 40's and 50's you cruise around the world and drink cocktails all day until you die.

The other strategy, traveling first, means you travel as a poorfag and are living on borrowed time.

As I said, you can choose to not do that. But if you have a ton of money (as you should if you work hard and smart) that's a non-issue, kids aren't that bad to tote around especially after they're 10 years old.

My point stands. Try to squeeze out some adventure for 5 years living as a backpacker before realizing you're going to be playing catch up for the next 30-40 years, or start now and have legit 40 years of luxurious travel once you've got your portfolio to size.

Most people are short sighted and go the consoomer route. They're the ones who bankroll the lifestyle of us delayed-gratificationers.

>> No.22210800

I disagree.

Compounding interest is a powerful tool, yes.
But having multiple passive income streams that pay in GBP, CAD,USD,AUD while spending in PHP, BAHT or Rupiah often means you'll come back home with more money than you left with.
Working on these income streams is far, far more easier than wage-caging for 5-10 years.

Its pretty much pointless to be wealthy and rich when you're old.
Especially if you end up chasing youth or buying back your health for more time you didn't capitalise on.

Tbh I didn't get laid much in the cruise ship, I meant that when I was a scuba instructor in general.

Most of the people I've found on cruise ships tend to be boomers. You get the occasional 20 something tagging along with their folks, but I lived in a share bunk with another divemaster. Sexile is usually a common solution but it isnt worth the risk since management really frown upon fraternising with pax, or if they find pax in crew quarters.

But some boomers (like 30-40 of them, 45-65 age bracket) were like part of some swingers club that get into some really raunchy shit that resulted in an outbreak of Gonorrhea or some unpleasant STD.

One even said, verbatim, that she wishes she could have it), your wealth vs the town. All of these will cause your status to be modified, perhaps extremely.

350k is probably 2-3x comfiness overkill, unless you're talking about overall net worth and not just the travel budget. As you mention though, the locations you want to go to and activities can swing this amount wildly, especially over a long period of time like 6 years.

Riding motorcycles in SEA? Pretty damn cheap. Helicopter tours of Dubai? Not as cheap.

And if I'm reading this right, you're going for 350k + a rental property? Ya that'll be fine.

Look at some of the monthly estimates here: https://nomadlist.com/

A last minute, private room can be had for 8 USD/night in Vietnam. SEA is the best for me, as I value length of freedom time over all else I think. I'd look into shit like training muay thai in thailand for 3-12 months.

>comparative royalty

I think a good approach is to first dissect what this term means to you, precisely.

Does it mean having literal serfs? Probably not going to happen, but I haven't checked everywhere.

What the typical "living like a king" setup people refer to is often *service-based*. In the US, labor is fucking expensive, so things like a haircut, cleaning, outsourced home improvement projects, food delivery, massages, childcare, etc are all expensive or at least way lower quality per $

When an American shows up to Thailand and realizes that $8-20 + no tip gets you the works in regards to a haircut, they are happy because that's not something on offer at all in the US. In the US you pay $20+ for a buzz, not detailed razor work.

You can really go crazy on the services without it adding up.

Or do you want to live like a king in terms of rock star status with women just for being the white guy in town?

Also helpful would be any other parameters such as age, net worth, skills, length of stay, and so on.

If you just want to travel and don't care about future gains or you have other investments for that, then I would say $100k is enough for 6 years of travel, as long as you don't want to live a luxurious lifestyle and you are more of a down to earth person.

$150k if you want to travel a lot into western-ish expensive countries, but IMO the real adventure is in the wilderness and less inhabited places.

Would you rather drink a $30 cocktail in an expensive western city or would you rather drink a $2 beer in the middle of the rainforest, fishing for piranha and sleeping in a hammock with a few like-minded people?

My plan is to make around $2-3 million and invest them into real estate and in lending/ farming protocols to get a nice passive income without doing much.
So far I'm at around $100-200k, and from farming and other DeFi related ways of earning interest I make around 2-5 ETH per month, and I plan to hold that ETH and accumulate as much as possible until the bullmarket really kicks in, and then I'll expand into real estate too.

I’m 26 now. The experience made me lose 95% of my friends because I realized the world is huge with great people and to not get caught up in drama or people not worth your time. Build yourself and don’t sweat people’s opinions. Many other things of course. I did a 10 day Vipassana meditation that was a trip.

Also that we’re all beyond fucking spoiled and should be grateful. I freelance code

The fruit haven thing sounds cool af. Back in 2018 I discovered psytrance and psychedelics and my mind was blown away haha.
Hippies are definitely cool, as long as they are open minded and they don't pressure you to believe in the whole crystal energy, earth healing and all that new age crap.

Loads of people do this with "no money", OP. Get out of the mindset that you have to be rich before you can start living. Just pick up jobs and stuff as you go. Like, a few $1000 will get you started nicely.

If you're young, you have all the power you need.

my guess is all these people falling for the travelling meme perpetrated by marketing faggots to fuel tourism got their brains brainwashed so extremely that for them travelling is grander than life itself but in reality they are just primitive animals with the mind of a small child and inner emptiness nothing else can fill quite as much as travelling partying or fucking around like wild niggers and they can't quite comprehend more complex concepts so everything is new and exciting to these retards, that's how they gather "precious life experiences", their information processing if fucked up beyond recognition

I was always aware of the risks of living in the third world and resisted the temptation to treat it as an adult Disneyland, knowing that if I really fucked up there was no safety net.
