I have skills and I had a lucrative job in web development and have handled 100's of thousands of dollars worth of projects. I was more referring to the disintegration of cultural institutions. No one believes in anything anymore, there are no greater ideals to strive for. Just and endless cycle of nihilist ic consumption and a system designed to squeeze every last drop out of you be it through dead-end jobs, unpayable student-debt loans, unpayable mortgages, divorce payments, increased retirement age, unpayed overtime, increasing rent, hyperinflation/ negative real income. It's more pervasive than you think. Best example that comes to mind is the destruction of women's sports with the inclusion of transgender athletes. Now I'll be the first to admit that I'm not particularly interested in women's sports but I have a close family member that ran track and field back in the day. Luckily for her it hadn't progressed to that point, but these days you have to sit back and clap while the hopes and dreams of real females are unfairly crushed - this is what the current society deems as "normalcy".
