Ok /biz/. I spent all of my money on gold bars because I think my currency is going to be quickly devalued. Did I do something completely fucking retarded?
My living expenses are extremely low, so I of course didn't put myself in a risky situation by any means.

You'll be OK. Think of it as buying a money market pegged to your currency and automatically adjusted for inflation. A little more on the conservative side but definitely nothing to worry about unless we somehow discover alchemy and the market is suddenly flooded with a shitload of gold. Over the long term it's basically impossible for you to lose. Premiums can be a gotcha but the impact diminishes over time.

You did nothing wrong, except if you bought silver you would have made more money. Silver ratio is off the charts right now and much cheaper than gold. You will always make a much bigger % gain with silver than with gold.
