I sold this at 50, one of my only losses so far (bought at 50.90) when I started mid-late July.

It's kind of hard not being greedy right now, need to remain calm and content with my gains. I'm fine with another dip coming soon. Really liking ARKK/ARKW as a stock to park my gains, though it's surprising that it underperformed relative to QQQ today/recently. if you guys could continue this conversation in this new thread i'd appreciate it. i mostly just want a good, consistent, safe stock i can do mean reversion on forever, wash rinse repeat style, with a long bias (i don't short it and if it dips enough out of the range i just buy more and DCA down). something crabbing between two values is great as long as it's relatively consistent and predictable so i can keep buying low and selling high over and over. waiting isn't an issue as long as nothing crazy (like the covid crash) is going on which im already looking out for every day anyways (like we all are really).

Short term the entire market would take a haircut but honestly there's really only so low a lot of these huge dividend yield extremely profitable and stable boomer stocks can actually go. I think instead of thinking of it in terms of boomer stocks vs tech it would be more accurate to say the market will rebalance away from growth and towards value. The problem for tech IMO is that a company like AAPL or TSLA at current valuation really don't fit into either category, and are objectively overvalued. I would put AMD in that same category. Other tech sector companies not so much. In particular TSM.

while I don't advocate buying into REITs right now, there are some REITs, even commercial real estate ones, that have still managed great rent collection despite lockdown quarterly. REITs who have not cut dividends through the worst of corona. REITs that are focused entirely on office or industrial etc. instead of uncertain commercial real estate.

that said, the risk is that their rent collections are only high because so many companies are basically zombie corporations staying afloat only because of government bux.

I understand they are starting to rotate into datacenters, automotive, and image visualization but when the 2000 series launched It still made up about half of their income as far as I'm aware. At the cost to performance I would wager that the 3000 series will be far more popular than the 2000 series. I would think at least in the First 2 or 3 quarters of 3000 launch that revenue will be up bigly.

IMO Exxon will not cut its div. They can ride this out by issuing bonds if they really need to and before they have to do that they will have done layoffs and cut capex (I would sell if they cut capex, their capex is what makes me love them like I love them.) But yeah NOBODY in the big boy chair at XOM wants to be the guy who cut dividends. NOBODY. They won't do it unless things get desperate, and desperate just isn't really on the horizon for big oil at the moment. XOM will trim the fat and in about a year when their capex starts maturing into producing assets you will see record breaking numbers out of them.

Having said that we are one Russian/Saudi press announcement away from getting fucking desperate quick. Never forget that the REAL big oil is not XOM, it's Aramco and Rosneft. Those two DID collude to shut down US shake (the failure to reach production cut was a cover story) and would absolutely do it again to protect their long term national financial stability.

All I can tell you is that I don't envy people whose financial well being is tied to TQQQ, AAPL, or whatever continuing to ride up the parabola. Tech is straight up parabolic and while it would have been real fucking nice to have caught that wave a week ago, a month ago, a day ago, I'm more comfortable doing what I'm doing than participating in what I believe is collective delusion. But I could be severely retarded as well, who knows?

I sometimes turn $100-$500 into $1-$5k but then I lose it all playing memes and have to start over. I'm currently between jobs so I can't deposit anymore money. This means I have to choose my plays very carefully because one -90% day means game over, and I can't afford the "high quality" options farther out and closer to the money. I usually "start over" by buying ATM SPY weekly calls and praying for a gap up (because it's all I can afford).

I believe very strongly that the VIX, DIX, RSI, and Bollinger bands on SPY and QQQ can't all be wrong, but by some rift in the timeline today was green instead of red. If I buy SPY calls for $100 expiring this Friday but then tomorrow is a -2.5% day it's game over. I was looking at VTI but that still mostly tracked the larger companies. I saw that far-OTM IWM LEAPS were +10% today and the index is still at pre-COVID levels so it doesn't look too bubbly. My thought was that if there actually is a -2.5% pullback day in the mega-caps all those trillions will have to rotate somewhere.

Basically I'm just being really risk averse right now and need an index that will go up with the money printer but not go down too much with the next mega-cap correction this month.
