ANONS!!! Remember to buy Debit Call Spreads on TQQQ for easy gains this week!!!! TQQQ goes up every week, and they'll continue to do so until there's a crash, but even if that happens it's okay!! TQQQ always corrects itself soon, so remember to buy cheapies!!!

WE'RE ALL GOING TO MAKE IT ANONS!!!!!!

I mean, nobody is saying you have to buy these. And on red days they tank, as expected. The only reason people are interested in these is that SPY/QQQ are broad index funds that go up over time no matter what the market is like. Unless there's a dotcom bubble. Sure, QQQ looks scary overextended. And that's fine. If you expect a correction on that, just go with SPY instead.

I'm just saying, it's a lot easier to make money on these instead of chasing singular stock gains which are admittedly a lot FASTER and a lot BIGGER but also a bit more DANGEROUS because you're going in on a singular entity/company.

so you all are shilling QQQ & SPY LEAPS pretty strongly. Assuming you have the money to buy some: what's the actual argument for getting one? Time decay doesn't hurt them as much? I'm looking at some SPY DEC 2020 370 call. It's got a premium of $3,700, and if SPY gets to 370 by Sept 26 the call is up 16%, which sounds good to me. The only downside to buying this is a) I'm typing up a lot of money and b) the market tanks, which we are assuming it won't by Sept 26. and another thing, who the fuck is selling this call?

This is semi-true but the only point in time you would've lost money with a 24+ month LEAP on QQQ would be if you bought it at the top of the dot com bubble, but at that point anybody buying in blindly to the frenzy all-in without realizing that it was a bubble got burned hard and deserved to get burned.

bro it's not 2018 anymore. Irrc, aphria's the one that has its shit together and even then it'll only reach like ~600 million in annual revenue without actual profit every other quarter. That said, that's much better than all the other companies that have never had a single quarterly with profit.
For a 1.79 billion.

Like jumping into GME even without the short squeeze is actually a much better buy with those numbers. GME is at 6 billion revenue so far this year with a market cap of 500 million. The only problem is its future growth and direction were so uncertain, but now there's hype behind it because of a single activist.
I wouldn't long GME but you wouldn't be in danger with bagholding it even if the short squeeze failed.

if you are familiar with weedstock hype that started late 2017 then I'm sure you can recognize what's going on with GME right now

For one day at least, the market action seemed to imply that the craziness that had inhabited the Nasdaq had found its way to the rest of the market. "What we're seeing the first two days of September is FOMO spreading beyond the Nasdaq," says Julian Emanuel, chief equity and derivatives strategist at BTIG, referring to the fear of missing out.

Warning signs abound.

The VIX has gained 1.7% to 26.52, a sign that expected volatility is rising with the market. Usually volatility falls when the market rises. The CBOE Nasdaq-100 Volatility, or VXN, jumped 6.1% to 36.80. But that doesn't mean that the end has to come immediately, Emanuel says. "We have said for the last two weeks that the Nasdaq is in a blow-off phase. We don't know if it's the beginning, the middle or the end."

NatAlliance Securities' Brenner agrees. "This has gone a lot further than I thought it would," he says. "And it will correct more than I think it probably should."

Consider that a warning.

its an interesting play given that the cap rates they earn on their leases are high and they're all long term triple-net leases so minimal capex outlay from IIPR. They also trade at a stupid high premium to NAV so they've got an attractive cost of capital to just issue shares and buy stuff at NAV and have it be really accretive

problem is you need to get comfort with the credit behind those leases - ie how strong are the actual weed companies they've signed the leases with for the dispensaries and greenhouses they buy. If those tenants go bust, what kind of loss do they take on the space if they can't lease it to another cannabis operator and need to go a more traditional route? specialized assets like that are tough because if cannabis is the highest and best use, you get fucked on having to re-tenant with someone else. There's also the worries about what happens if/when the laws in the US change - right now it makes sense to have a greenhouse or dispensary in every state because you can't transport across state lines. If that changes, will there still be value in Ohio greenhouses if everyone can just import from the lowest cost producer?

it's always hard to buy something at the top, but i've missed out too many times on winners because i was too hesitant to buy at the top.
Winners are always at all time highs for a reason.

this time though, GME is unironically a safe hold even if the safe squeeze didn't work out. Looking more into the situation, its low stock price is not indicative of its financial situation at all and it's all just stock market bullshit (the shorts).

What I don't get is how the shorting bubble got THIS bad. I guess it was gonna keep going and going as long as there was no positive catalyst, but maaan it feels good to be on the other side this time. The bubble will POP but it will be a massive spike upwards for a moment. How unusual.

The other cases people bring up is Volkswagen which was 10x, and then APRN much more recently which was almost 7x for a couple days.
I'll only consider putting in stop losses *mentally* (trailing like -10% to -20% behind) after that point. I don't know if $100 is realistic (oh god i would cum hands-free probably) but I'll take some profits along the way to at least make sure I cover my principal cost.

assume the downside is 50% of whatever you put in. that's how im approaching it. im not gonna get rich or anything but something like $30k would be pretty fucking sweet for doing nothing but waiting.

honestly if tech pops short-term, REITs will be safe since the housing bubble is something else entirely.
You can at least bet they won't go down any lower than they already are, and some of them still give ~9% dividends with sustainable payout ratios so you beat inflation.
I've long taken my tiny +10% profits on REITs though to follow the tech pumps. REITs just crab forever

Do you think QCOM is gonna rise with apple since they're the ones supplying them with their 5g chips?

Whats wrong with nio. I bought in at 9. I wish i went all in.

But 'muh diversify"

Only bad decisions I've made so far is not selling ibio at top. Not selling mark at top. Buying ntec at all.

Sold ntec and mark for loss, averaged down ibio to 2.65

Hopefully it does something

Unless its residential REIT (is that even a thing or do they all have mixed RE holdings?) isn't it hella risky
