I hold a *moderate amount of LINK and XRP.

Which cold storage is best? Iv been leaning towards nano ledger X or S.

>> No.22134539

i own an X. jsut arrived havent set it up yet. might do dat now tho

If you hold mostly erc20 stuff the cheap ledger is good enough. I don't have a use for bluetooth

even though the ledgers are today on sale on amazon (nano X for 95€, nano s for 47€) I am still going for the Trezor T because of transparency reasons.

No need to worry about XRP being stolen since nobody wants it, but for storing your LINKs, I'd suggest Nano Ledger based on a poll I did some time ago on biz where like 70 had a Nano Ledger(X or S) and 30 had a Trezor. Bought a Nano Ledger S myself, but haven't moved my coins yet.

Nano S, Nano X and Trezor; split between 3 different devices and accounts

>> No.22136496

i have the nano x and i like it a lot. i like being able to control my wallet from my phone so i don't need to break out my laptop and plug the device in and shit. if that sounds good to you get the nano, if you want extra stuff like a password manager but no bluetooth get the trezor, if you don't care for either just buy the cheapest one. you can't go wrong

For absolute safety and ease of use: Trezor T
For what you'll actually need: Ledger S

Just use a PO box or a friend's address because ledger keep having their customer address list leaked.

you have to physically press the buttons on the device to move funds. it doesn't matter if someone hacks you over bluetooth or otherwise, they can't do shit.
even if someone physically had your device, they'd need to guess your PIN. after 3 wrong attempts it wipes the device. what level of schizo paranoia are you on?

Just as a thought experiment what if you were the sort of guy to go to gay meetups and usually end up passed out from GHB and ket because you get off to people using your body as you lie there helpless and you were to bring your ledger X?

I have been in IT too long, I am not naive/blindly expecting technology to prevent unforeseen circumstances nor save me when they do occur. You are getting offended and immediately go to insult when you are told factual information. That is your preference and that is fine, for you, this is fine, for me. OP and others can decide where they are in the balance of convenience or security

i'm bantering not genuinely insulting you. i feel satisfied with that level of security. it would have to be someone extremely close to me to steal my assets and if they're that evil i'm fucked anyway.

They're only insured up to $250k I believe, maybe $500k. What's to stop them from claiming a hack when a portion of their customers have tens or hundreds of millions total in Link or BTC and running off with it? There won't be any kind of fallback on them as long as they can cover each person up to $250k, which they'll drag on for as long as they can, because you sign their terms of agreement that you can't sue them if shit goes south and they hold up their end of the bargain

commies can literally just seize your moneys and there is absolutely nothing you can do about it. all of your moneys are tied to your personal information. if you keep your own coins, your moneys are international and you can take them to anywhere in the world when you want. one government can not do anything to steal them from you.

It's customer addresses that keep being hacked. Trezor T is by far the best but it's stupidly overpriced. Just order a ledger to a PO box.

i own pic related (trezor t, nano s, ledger blue, keepkey) and recently picked up an X.
X is SO comfy. like SO damn comfy. all the annoyance with the S has been fixed. literally the only thing that's still annoying is typing in the recovery words when you set it up. that part is much better on trezor or ledger blue. but you do that extremely rarely, so. ledger X all the fucking way. they accumulated a lot of experience with manufacturing hardware wallets and perfected it with X. based on my experience with companies like ledger, they'll quiet probably fuck up the next ones and X could be the de facto hardware wallet for 10 years

Aside from the likely fraud allegations, they would lose all credibility in the space. I'd wager CB is too big to exit scam since they are setting themselves up to be a major institutional force. Why would they cash in at a few B when they could wield hundred of billions worth of power in the future? Obviously it is a possibility, but for people who understand the limitations of their technical abilities, CB isn't that much riskier than a HW wallet.

storing shit on exchanges is fine long as you have less than $50k in crypto. but it goes against everything crypto is about. the *real* bullrun will come with the collapse of fiat and quiet possibly the traditional financial system as well. when that happens you definitely won't want to store your coins on cuckbase. and there's always a chance some internal dev figures a way to cheat the company's safeguard systems and boots with the money
