TSLA Bull Thesis: bears will continue to think the evaluation is too high, short the stock, and get stopped out, forcing them to cover at a loss which then bids the price higher. this new price is too high, so surely shorting is a good idea, except it isn't, and they will cover at a loss again which will further increase the price of the stock.

It's the opposite of buying and holding to sell at a higher price. People are selling and holding hoping to buy at a lower price. When you short a stock you borrow it from someone and sell it on the market under the expectation you can buy it back lower and then return it with a small borrowing fee.

Then there's the float which is the number of shares actively being traded in the market

The 99% short interest means almost every share on the market has been borrowed and sold short. Every single one of those shares has to be bought back to close the short positions. If the price goes up they have to buy back at a loss to prevent being liquidated, and if enough people do it it will cause the price to rise further and force more people to buy back, and so on

I realized something, autonomous driving will destroy the restaurant industry as we know it and consumers will increasingly get food delivered because of much lower delivery costs, plus they won't have to tip.

This creates a positive feedback loop. Restaurants will increasingly become ghost kitchens, a kitchen that isn't attached to a dinning establishment which will greatly bring down their staff expenses and the cost of their rent as they no longer have to be in a location with high visibility. The kitchens themselves can become much larger, automated, and become almost like a factory that produces cooked food and deliveries it via autonomous driving. Eventually the costs may fall so much that the average person gets the majority of their meals this way.

GME has been the most shorted ticker in the markets since February. Yes, even moreso than TSLA. Shorts borrow shares on margin to immediately sell and close the short by buying back the share. The lower the price goes, the more money they make but they pay a premium over time to borrow the share.
When you have nearly 100% short interest, ANY good news will cause the price to rise and shorts, fearing that they won't be able to secure profits begin buying back in to cover and that drives the price/premiums up even more. These squeezes can cause the price to spike up tremendously (if temporarily). The more shorted a stock is, the more dramatic this can be.
Hell, if GME shares were like $100 and gamma was as abusable there as with TSLA, we could see $2000 GME and GME bulls talking about how GME will take over all video games and have virtual roboarcades, etc.

Highest expenses and inefficiencies come from paying the driver, insuring the driver, and accounting for the driver's fuck ups. Probably a close second is the fact that the driver legally cannot spent more than X amount of hours in a day behind the wheel. The driver MUST rest and this usually happens over night when the roads are free and clear of traffic. Everything in shipping and logistics is tied down to how much performance you can squeeze out of human being and it turns out that it isn't much. Who bears the weight of all of these costs? The end of the logistics chain, us the consumer.

If you have a self-driving truck most problems go away and shipping/deliveries can be made at half the cost in half the time.
