Imagine you are a richfag with hundreds of shares of AAPL and want some income. Just sell out of the money covered calls
Imagine you are a poorfag but still want to sell covered calls. Buy a LEAPs call option and sell covered calls on that.
Imagine you want to swing trade LABU cuz it's on a dip right now but you're scared. Buy a bull call spread with both strikes in the money and 4 months to expiration. That way if the price goes up you make money, if the price stays the same you make money, if the price goes down slightly, you make money.
And so on. What is it you want to do?

True, i wasn.t expecting this week to run up so much. It is risky but i keep a decent hedge (30K put on qqq), manage it through the day, and have a guide for my entry and exits. Blue line in the chart shows the channel boundaries that it bounces around in 99% of the time so i just choose a strike that will land outside on expiration. Best part is you wouldnt need tech or meme stocks, just use compounding over time with modest returns. 10k in 1 year with weekly 10% returns compounded gets you to $1,420,429 assuming you dont hold a bum spread to expiration. If shit hits the fan you can sell early as always to eat a smaller loss

Yep, you got it. When you first bought the calls the effective was whatever it was, say it was 15x. Now that they are much further in the money, the effective leverage has gone down some. If you are still bullish and think we have a long way to go, you sell your calls and buy more out of the money ones to get that sweet leverage back. Again, or you can just turn them into spreads and get some premium which also adds to your gains

Strike width i go by the best ratio of profit vs risk and least number of contracts. More contracts means i have to pay more fees. I try to wait until the price is close to or under the projected 2 week bottom line and put in my order at max leverage (because it will go above the blue line if stonks only go up) for my position size. i try to do 10% hedge 30-40% options the rest cash and equities. IV dropping and price going up helps your spreads by letting you close early. If you crab sideways two weeks you still make your money every day.

If a spread goes bad i close before expiration 100%, but going bad would be falling below my breakeven. If the whole market tanks i have a sizable hedge against that happening that would cut my losses (even make money). The spread price i find by charting where i think the extreme bottom of the price range would be and starting from that point i play with the strikes until i get minimal contracts and 3-1 risk-return or better 1-2 weeks out.

again, being honest here: but im not really sure the perception on cruises in particular will remain the same after covid. they were already seen as vectors for disease before covid and now that we have a full-on pandemic, i can only see that increasing in perception. airlines sure but cruises in particular i'd be very wary of. again this is my opinion of course. if you were to label people as "pro-cruises", "anti-cruises", and "independents" as it were, i'd say the independents would be pushed more towards the anti-cruises sentiment after this pandemic. i mean maybe you make a play on the social conservative population that is protesting wearing masks and thinking covid is a conspiracy or some shit, but i don't like to bet on retards personally.

and all that aside i STILL dont think you lose very much by simply waiting for some kind of vaccine or treatment or something, some kind of actualized "return to normal". trying to get in early is more likely to bite you in the ass than anything, especially because you don't know who the winners and losers of the industry are ultimately going to be yet. it's very likely that certain companies are going to go out of business or consolidate/merge with other companies to survive, you just don't know yet. at least take the time to look into all of their balance sheets and what sort of debt they're taking on and how long they can survive when no one is going on cruises during this shit, a pandemic where we still don't know when the end will be btw. just my 2c.

frankly i'd stay away from semiconductors as an industry outside of a few solid picks like TSM, AMD, and NVDA. Maybe Intel depending on what product lineups they reveal with the TSM chips. Moore's law could potentially end soon since we've hit the limit with silicon for the foreseeable future. TSM is the only one with a roadmap to 2 nm and it's not on silicon, fingers crossed. Good hold for 3 years for now with the info we have available. I would take profits at that point unless whatever companies you're holding continues to have a good roadmap for the next 3-4 years at that time.

So basically, nasdaq giants is one thing but definitely don't put the bulk of semiconductors in the same basket. Market overlooks TSM for example because they are scared by the possibility of mainland china pulling some bullshit over Taiwan. It is a cyclical industry because production takes several years to expand, and whatever increased demand that prompted it in the first place may or may not be there once it's done. One of the perfect examples being MU. Great solid R&D and company but can't do much about waning demand for memory (lower consumer demand overall for it) in the short-term.

don't let the success of TSM/AMD/NVDA fool you into thinking SOXX is going to match the performance of QQQ or whatever. I highly doubt it and I'd rather just take individual semiconductor picks rather than the SOXX ETF which includes a lot of obscure companies.
