Doubt you could mine anything solo without a ton of power; like a warehouse full of rigs. You can start by going to the website whattomine and plugging in your specs.

Exactly, it's a helluva investment unless you have a piece of property and a lot of money that won't provide ROI for years.

You could try Myriad. For the i7s you can mine using yescrypt algo. for the nvidia 1050s try myr-groestl or skein.

Check /r/myriadcoin and myriadcoin.org/en/mining there's plenty of info.

Newfag myth. Everyone who mined and held for years got rich. If you mine a decent coin that's undervalued, you will get a big return some day.

Me for example, I mined Myriad yescrypt for 7 months last year on a cheap intel Atom laptop every time I went to bed and it's worth a few hundred fucking bucks now.

Also, solo mining, yes it's stupid for most people. Use a pool.

why not just join a mining pool?

Electricity is free, and I'm getting a graphic card soon for gayms, so I'd like to mine while I'm at work. Should I wait around for vega and drop $400 on that or get an 580 for $230? I have a 2k 144hz freesync monitor that could take advantage of a Vega, but it probably won't be out till late July at the earliest.
