this interview made me think, why not use a similar process to BTC for data pushing on the chain?

Ie mining Link tokens by solving hashes, which gives you a right to push a certain data from multiple data sources to a separate chain.

Then the other nodes validate if they have matching data, if they do they mine the next block on top of it, if not they mine a correct block instead.

After 3-5 confirmations you could then push the data to the chain that asked for it. The cost for pushing it is paid by the chain in LINK

This kind of solution would solve issues like how to determine if oracles are wrong and should lose their stake, which otherwise (as outlined by the whitepaper) would be judged by deviating from the mean in the aggregator, which is less secure imo.

oh shit it looks like this is sort of how Tellor works.
Anyone got some thoughts on why Chainlink's approach is better?

found it
not using an aggregator creates more miner front-running and is too slow

Interesting read. Also raises why the marketcap of the oracle should be as high as the environment it is securing.

I really do wonder how LINK is going to trigger and settle disputes for staking though. If they can solve staking they will have done it.
