Why would you shill it? It has done and will do exactly as advertised - be anonymous. It's arguably the most successful coin because it is used, and achieves its purpose perfectly.
Plus, it's generally pretty stable aside from the recent pump, so not much action to excite people as the project is essentially 'done'.

It has it's use value, there is also z-cash and another one that goes through TOR. But it's just a coin.
Really the move is more towards a protocol where you can build dApps on, that's where the real value is nowadays. Just look at how amazing this DeFi landscape is forming in front of our eyes.
Privacy oriented tokens are great if you want to do illegal stuff, evade taxes or whatever.

However, if their was a bigger privacy layer on a protocol that allowed building smart contracts and dApps that would be amazing. But I fear pedos are gonna ruin it.

This is the unfortunate thing about privacy coins. It has the boogeyman of full anonynimity behind it that governments can use to whip up a "Think of the children!" frenzy about pedos using some weird cryptocurrency they've never heard of to ban it.
It doesn't matter that cash can be used for these same purchases without records or tracking, but its an easy scapegoat that will always hang over these coins.
The only thing keeping this coin from being banned is in my opinion rich people having a digital avenue to move their funds anonymously.
