Because everything else till now has been a moneygrabbing PoS except Tezos - which has no ambition to scale (although it's already better than Eth since it's PoS, but no Eth bridge)
Near solves both sharding & cross app sharding communication & has an Eth bridge. You don't have much longer to wait.
