>SPY and VOO
Well, first you only need one of these two. They track the same thing and yield nearly identical returns over several years. You could do S&P only, or do a combination S&P and Nasdaq. Or dabble in individual stocks. Up to you and whatever you're trying to achieve in stock market.

Yes, or just go for a total market index fund since those have even lower expense ratios and you basically get 100% matched to inflation anyway. A small part of that portfolio can be a few single stocks you have picked. And I do mean a few. Companies that do things you find interesting and you could sit down and read about for an hour or so every month. Just to make it more interesting. You never know if you are going to get Wirecarded or Enroned so its best to slowly trickle into your picks if they happen to be winners over years.
For most of the population that will do nicely with holding assets that are as anti-correlated with the markets as possible.

There is no advantage to this. You are unironically better off buying buying an index or ETF that covers it. Because there is no way you can keep up to date with the goings on of 10-15 different companies. Also very little chance you are that interested in all 10-15 of them

>There are two factors that have helped Micron stage this impressive comeback: an uptick in memory demand and improved pricing. In the third quarter, Micron's DRAM (dynamic random access memory) shipments were up 10% sequentially, while average selling prices (ASPs) increased in the mid-single digits. Shipments of NAND flash also increased in the lower single digits quarter over quarter, while ASPs were up in the upper single digits.
>Memory chips should continue to be in good demand thanks to catalysts such as data centers, smartphones, and gaming consoles. At the same time, investors need to keep an eye on the supply side as well. An oversupply in the industry sent prices crashing after two solid years in 2017 and 2018, and there are a few ominous signs already that investors need to worry about.
>According to data from DRAMeXchange, the price of an 8GB DDR4 DRAM in June stood at $3.31 -- the same as in May. The prices rose consistently from December 2019 until May, indicating that the price gains Micron has been enjoying so far may have come to a halt. The report also points out that spot DRAM prices have dropped 17% over the past three months, and they are expected to drop in the ongoing quarter as well.
>Both server and PC DRAM prices are expected to lose momentum as buyers are reportedly holding back purchases in anticipation of a drop in prices. So Micron Technology may have delivered a terrific quarterly report and guidance last month, but the uncertainty around memory prices could play spoilsport.

They have no prospects within a 4-year outlook, and a """price memory""" play clearly hasn't worked out since it didn't even get a short-term deadcat bounce while everything else has had good gains since July 24 (MSFT, AAPL, AMD, TSM, NVDA, ...).

So on top of issues with yields and lagging behind on transistor density too (e.g. samsung 5 nm comparable to TSM 7 nm), samsung's likely to encounter issues trying to skip node size just like when intel tried to do the same thing.

Yet if they don't do anything in response they're saying they condone what he did and it gives future president's a precedent to fall back on if they decide to flaunt congress. So the only option is to roll all that shit into a bill that trump signs. Trumps orders are then rendered void/moot. Voters are happy. A ugly precedent is avoided.

RN Baba is at a 5% discount. They will smash earnings as they're an international online retailer. With the help from the Chinese stimulus package and the lockdowns, they should make easy gains.

you have to factor in the premium

the $7 strike might have a $4 premium. so the stock would have to go up to $11 for you to break even.

on the other hand, the $10 strike is going to have a smaller premium. say $3. but this means the stock has to go up to $13 for you to break even.

In the face of volatility, in which you suspect but can't really guarantee a certain type of movement, options with strike prices already deep in the money allow you more wriggle room for unfavourable movement in which you're still entitled to act on the underlying and thereby recoup some of the premium.
In your example, you'll be paying a very high premium to be entitled to buy at that very low price. The low boundary of that entitlement allows you to exercise for a $3 range below the current stock price (less likely for the option to expire worthless) and upward movement will not improve your payout as quickly because you have more of a premium to offset. Finally, you can expect these factors to be reflected in the dynamics of selling the option.

it's just a play that makes it way harder to lose all of your money
in any case, when you're buying calls it means that you think the stock is going up
if you buy shorter duration / higher strike calls you can lose value much much much quicker if the price doesn't move up
if you buy lower strike and/or longer duration calls, you get less possible upside but also lower possible downside. if the stock doesn't go where you want, you still have room to hold the calls for a small loss, or sell them for a small loss. like you will have the value of your calls go down 5% in a day instead of 30% (actual numbers may vary)
