i mostly focus on the principle of they are here to stay and focusing on monopoly. MSFT for example has a monopoly on all essential office software and their OS is virtually a monopoly as well. Good luck doing school or business work without using O365.
As for AMD and Intel, they are a duopoly, no one can enter that market easy and you will win either way.
I think the key to investing to tech (in my perspective) is that it is something that I understand and I have been following for a long time so I am not nervous about doing it. I think you should find a sector that you are familiar with and invest into it.

Google, Microsoft, Apple, and Alibaba are the pillars of FAGMAN. And this coming from someone who thinks Apple products are overpriced and underperforming trash that forces you to pay a premium to be part of the apple cult.

I just have to say. The bond market has been nothing but unceasingly angry since January. I am seeing some bonds be relisted over months even across quarters with the same list prices. Even for companies with news that fuels stock rallies. If there is growth to come its not going to be from bonds or private loans, I am pretty sure of this.

Paper trading is only worthwhile to get a feel for the system and how it works. But you hit on exactly the shortfalls. When there is nothing on the line you can be completely rational. Your biggest enemy is emotion when your own money is at stake. At this point I look at +5% days the same as I would -5%.
If your risk tolerance is low, then you should unironically look into low expense ratio index funds. You will miss the sick nasty moonshots but also protect yourself from digging into holes with no escape. So less return, but less time and emotional control needed to manage the account.

Brainlet here looking for education. Is anyone else keeping an eye on CALX? Had a great run-up but then tanked pretty hard the past week. They also announced offering common stock, but I don't really understand what that means. Are they offering more shares for purchase? You're fucking retarded, bruv.

Literally, on a daily basis, security researcher released papers on compromised intel architecture. Some of it was mitigated at the kernel, some was mitigated at the microcode level, and some was sorta kinda fixed. In the example of the microcode modifications: some workloads lost 50% of their performance. That's a non-linear cost increase, too mind you. Suddenly you're buying twice the amount of room, cooling, and supplying twice the amount of power to do the same work half of that had done previously.

Nobody likes INTC, and even Dell wants to drop them which is why it rescinded everything it said about AMD and is now pushing AMD enterprise shit.

Thanks for the help. I'm still in about 3% profit from my buy-in several weeks ago. I feel like I want to pick up more, but not if I wake up one morning to a -10% drop due to share dilution. I work with Calix equipment and genuinely believe in the company. May just wait and see what happens.

A share offering could dilute the existing shareholders but sometimes the benefits outweigh the cost.
It's a way of adding new capital after all.

If you believe in the company and trust the management I believe it's not something to worry about. It's not something uncommon in companies which are growing fast. They are increasing the number of shares with this by a bit more than 3%

Thanks for taking the time. My best play may be to just hold. It isn't a position that I took with the intention of a quick flip. My company orders equipment from them all of the time, and they can't keep up. Orders are 4-5+ months out. This might explain why they need the extra capital.
