>Whaaaaa housing and health care are expensive because of government regulations!!

Retards that say the most generic shit without actually saying content. Kill yourself, right wingers. You retards cant understand facts.

1. Health care is actually more affordable with government regulations. Examlple: Nordic countries. Also, u.s. is the ONLY 1st world country that doesnt have universal healthcare, fucking retard rednecks.

2. Housing market? Okay, let's see. Rent control. Bitch, it DOES work. That's a 100% fact, BUT let me explain to you hillbillies.
It works in places already established. 100% fact and there is ZERO counter argument. It DOESNT work when you need new places built. Why? Rich faggot greedy landlords are the SOURCE for NEW buildings aka they will NOT build in cities with rent control.
In other words once carrying capacity has been reached, it DOES make perfect sense to implement rent control.
As for beforehand, possibly subsidies are needed instead of actual rent control.
Example of how it worked: There was a guy that would have needed to pay 10k a month for a unit if there was ZERO regulations. Instead, he paid 2k a month.
Another solution is to not allow people to be able to hoard property.

Okay, retard rednecks. Let me hear facts instead of talking out of your unshowered ass. Fucking incest loving degenerates.

i'm fucking exhausted even thinking about going to bed—you think i'm going to try to rationalize with someone who WANTS the only entity in society that claims a monopoly on violence that they enforce with money that they do not necessarily HAVE to produce adequate or cost-effective goods and services in order to acquire (they can merely *promise* to do this and then pander to migrants, who they bring over and give welfare on your and my dime, and who are more likely to vote for collectivist politicians)?
stefan molyneux and amren were both banned from youtube at the same time just a few weeks ago; leftism ultimately falters to rationale, thus they have to resort to the use of force against members of society to achieve their ends
this is the meta; i hate to say it, but ultimately, debating points with diehard leftists is a waste of time anyway
how the hell can you argue with someone whose argument is "tell me why i and the government shouldn't just take everything you have" while they're deplatforming people whose job it is to find the best arguments and share them, on a platform that their tax money subsidizes; like, at that point, you just kinda have to point to the rifle in your hand and declare your natural right to both destiny, and disassociation from them

Healthcare is a fucking meme, it's expensive in America because it's heavily socialized. What isn't covered by gibs the insurance companies overpay and underpay for so much of you have a Tylenol costing $10. For universal health we'd need to cut fat people and frequent fliers out. This is one case the 80/20 law falls apart. It's a small group responsible for about 90% of costs. I see welfare niggers going to the emergency room for trivial shit like the cold, a broken bone, stubbed toe, thinking they might be pregnant, etc. Some go to the emergency room more than twice a year, five times a year, even 10 times a year. All for shit than could be handled at a clinic or urgent care at the very worst. By not having consequences the most evil and irresponsible abuse the system driving up costs for good people.
Rent control doesn't work at all. Any place with rent control costs way more. If you can find a place for under $200k it's going to be a tiny ass dump in the shitty part of town. What we need is laws against flippers. If you buy a house you're not allowed to sell it for more than you paid until five years have passed. These boomer fucks find cute houses then rip out all the charm, pick the ugliest paint colors, put in fake floors in the ugliest colors, and then turn around and sell for 150-200% what they paid. It's not fair we have to pay these inflated prices and then pay to have all the ugly shit ripped out just to get it back to fixer upper condition, and then pay to make it look like something we'd want to live in. Primary homes should be untaxed, vacation homes untaxed provided it serves as a residence of the owner for at least 25% of the year, and homes that are being rented out should be taxed to the point its net zero income for landlords. This is the only real solution to the housing problem we're facing. Codes, zoning, and covenants need some scrutinizaton too. It's restrictions for no good reason and only prevents people from having something nice.

Go back to /pol/ faggot.
Also rent control does not work, and you shouting 100% facts" without providing any evidence does not help your cause.
Your explanation further shows how retarded you are. You can never reach carrying capacities, because city populations are not fixed it can heavily increase or decrease over the years following the supply/demand rule. If rent was the same everywhere, people would just rush to the best cities to live. This would hugely create big problems in terms of housing capacity, job availability, and it would overall be absolute madness, with other cities and town becoming abandoned. Without rent control, the market will just naturally fix these issues, with some cities seeing their rent prices increase due to the high demand, forcing some citizens to seek other cities with better prices. This creates a healthy ecosystem, preventing certain places from becoming hugely overcrowded, while also preventing other places from becoming ghost towns

I know rent control backfired in LA and SF. While it does benefit locals until the land lord sells and evicts them all. Newcomers end up buying into a ponzi scheme, whether they like it or not.
Tenants will sublet to greater fools that are willing to spend more on rent, while they only pay 1990's rent. So it's priced into the property.
That's why you see a lot of working homeless in those two cities.

Rent control does increase housing prices though. What do you think, landlords will just roll over and accept defeat? No, they will drastically increase rents prior to the implementation of the law to make up for years of paltry rent increases in the future. Then a few years down the road when they are feeling returns aren’t good enough from the massive pre-implementation hikes guess what? They knock down the old housing and build luxury apartments and crank the rent up again because it’s a “new” home.

>health care is actually more affordable with government regulations
in the case of "free health care", you might face less *up-front* cost, as the recipient of the medicine—that doesn't mean that you aren't paying more in taxes (hint: you are)
all "free" health care does is:
1. potentially obscure the cost of the medicine that you're receiving (you're not going to ask for a bill if the entire idea is that you don't pay, and any bill that's handed to you for medicine that you do pay for is not necessarily provided with the obligation in place that the service provider must disclose the total cost of medicines to taxpayers—nor will it take into account uncovered expenses that are paid for via inflation (a passive, very insidious tax), if present); the effect of obscuring the cost of medical services is that taxpayers don't realize how much the costs of whatever health care they get actually is, which gives them no reference for the expenses that they burden in taxes are.
2. as a result of having the "government-approved" health care clinics/hospitals where only people who have passed in "government-approved" educational institutions may practice and that get subsidized with taxpayer funds, you have an entity that has an unfair competitive advantage in the market; this is only compounded by the fact that any competitors are forced to comply with regulations that govern what medicines they are allowed to use, and what services they are allowed to provide. as a result of this, you effectively have "shitty, oligarchic, bloated government healthcare that uses wildly outdated medicines that both can kill or harm you very easily and that regulations in who may produce costs thousands of times more than they should" vs "crackpot schizo naturalist (generally unregulated) practitioners that charge you through the roof in upfront costs to provide you with medicines that may or may not work"

there's far more to consider than just what you see in up-front cost; that's what deductive reasoning is for. using the points that i'd outlined in my above post, you can hopefully more readily come to intuitively understand that necessarily chaining everyone, economically, to society's weakest links cannot possibly reduce costs—more frequently, it enables and incentivizes poor, but immediately stimulating behavior (unhealthy eating habits, dangerous drug usage, tranny sex changes rather than questioning the notion that one's brain is perfectly healthy when they resort to self-mutilation to amend perceived "problems") in those vulnerable, which i will say is not something that i necessarily care about; i merely want to not be involved. you have no entitlement to my income.

>housing
forcing landlords to lower the cost of rent is a very cursory solution to an underlying problem; the government and the banks that they bail out, with a taxpayer-funded police and military to enforce the will of the feds and of corrupt states, both lay claim to enormous expanses of land that could, by an enterprising individual, be turned into new municipalities that offer competitive living conditions to individuals and families when compared to existing municipalities. taxation is the fundamental problem; understanding, fundamentally, that nature is FASCISTICALLY anarcho-capitalist, and that playing by her hidden rules is the principle to which all advancements of all species can be attributed, is the solution.

i'm clearly using "free health care" as a catch-all term for government-subsidized healthcare
referencing some statistics (that could be compiled by a group that has a vested interest in there being a minimum of competition in the health care space, which is inarguably what the effect of selectively subsidizing institutions in any field is) does not prove your point whatsoever, no matter how incredibly arrogantly you present it
you don't NEED sources to engage in deductive reasoning—the laws by which you can engage in logic are limited only by your ability to comprehend the natural world in which we exist.

the concept that you most seem to struggle with is the fact that whether government-provided healthcare is or isn't more expensive (how it *couldn't* be more expensive when it creates a virtual monopoly on healthcare—a monopoly *quite literally run by people who ***do not, as a matter of fact, have to earn a single cent of the money that they acquire*** because they collect all that they have to run the system via taxation rather than the voluntary exchange of goods and services*—absolutely falters to rationality), neither you nor the state has any more legitimate claim to my financial autonomy than myself, yet if i were to not pay the taxes that are forced on me for services that i did not commission i will have my natural rights restrained in a prison that my tax money helped to build and maintain. you seem to think—given your advocacy for the expansion of state power—that this is perfectly fair.

>>20787846
you're going to cite the doctors who champion universal healthcare as a means of legitimizing your point? you do understand that they have A LOT to gain from there being a system in place that guarantees them an income no matter how bad they actually are at providing health care, right? if you wanted to incentivize laziness, all you need to do is guarantee someone a monopoly on service (no matter how bad it is)

You cant read, can you? I said without a middle man, people could instead make deals and negotiate with contractors and there they can determine a set price. In fact, my mother is actually doing that in another country. Just to give you an example to show it can be done.
Along with that, there should still be a rule set in place. I fucked up when I said "shouldnt be for profit". Contractors should profit for their labor (I said as much, but my wording could have been better there). Thing is on top of the cost of material (which the customer should pay in full obviously), a contractor should not be able to say charge 9x that. There should be transparency and the business can still be profitable for contractors without fucking customers over

>Health care is actually more affordable with government regulations.
Maybe slightly financially, but the time cost for public health care is through the roof.

>Okay, let's see. Rent control. Bitch, it DOES work.
In the short term it does reduce costs for those who are renting the property effected. In the long run you:
Increase demand, there is more demand for the same property at a lower price
Reduce supply as there is less incentive for land lords to build new buildings while renting them at a price that won't cover costs
Reduce maintenance as there is less money left for that because of lower rent, and less competition that is providing better maintained buildings
More investment in the production of luxury housing as it typically isn't regulated under rent control
More abandoned buildings that would otherwise be rented out, as rental prices don't cover mortgage costs and landlords flee to avoid crushing debt. There is enough abandoned housing in new York to house all of their homeless

Rent control does not work.

Zoning regulation removal would reduce housing cost issues much better than rent control, and cities in Texas without zoning restrictions have significantly lower rent rates than cities with strict zoning regulation and rent control like San Francisco.

if you, as an entity, rely on statistics to justify the use of violent force on other people, rationality suggests that you will inevitably reference statistics produced by a nefarious actor who wishes for someone with a claim to the use of violent force to do their bidding because there are nefarious actors who want their goals completed, and there is no natural mechanism in place that necessarily prevents anyone from compiling data that is not truthful to reality.

Nope. If anything, the customer would be the "landlord", but if they ever want to sell, it should only be at break even i.e. what they paid for the actual home (adjusted for inflation). Doesnt include cost of repairs. If you give people the option to flip over and over, it would cause prices to hike. I dont believe in being able to make a profit from flipping homes and selling them for more over and over again. Fuck having housing be a speculative market.

With apartments, I would say have the government be the ones in charge of the building and have the cost go to the people that live within the units. Then after break even, people would only pay for reoccurring expenses.

Guess what, the US government is a massive fuck-up. They can't do anything right. See the last 20 years of foreign and domestic policy. Everything they touch withers and dies, in an extremely expensive manner.

America is only rich because of its size, rivers, resources and population. The government is and has always been an impediment to all aspects of the economy, only it used to be a bearable impediment.

Rent control is a perfect example. Distorting prices is a bad idea. Getting an elected government, prone to lobbyism, to distort prices ALWAYS MAKES THINGS WORSE. People will try to rort the system, you'll need to create a vast bureaucracy to manage it. Housing stock will decay.

There's no problem with food prices, clothing prices or vehicle prices. Only health, education and housing, areas the government has poisoned and razed, inflating ridiculous bubbles and restricting, legislating and zoning. If we scrapped all government interference in the market, things would be greatly improved and taxes would fall. Bureaucrats have no reason to care if they do a bad job and fuck everything up: businesses stand to lose revenue and they'll fix the problem.

> Additionally, you constantly typing "FACT" in the middle of provably false statements does not make them true, regardless of what your leftist idols may state.
Ohhhh is that so? Then back it up, retard. Im lying? Okay, you said it yourself. The BACK IT UP and cite a source :). Show universal health care is in fact more expensive

Also, "less innovation". Super Ironic. You are stating that as a fact without backing it up. Pic related. Also:
> The single biggest source of medical research funding, not just in the United States but in the entire world, is the National Institutes of Health (NIH): Last year, it spent more than $28 billion on research, accounting for about one-third of the total dollars spent on medical research and development in this country (and half the money spent at universities). The majority of that money pays for the kind of basic research that might someday unlock cures for killer diseases like Alzheimer’s, aids, and cancer. No other country has an institution that matches the NIH in scale. And that is probably the primary explanation for why so many of the intellectual breakthroughs in medical science happen here.

> Another virtue of more centralized health care is its ability to generate savings by reducing administrative waste. A universal coverage system that significantly streamlined billing (either by creating one common form or simply replacing basic insurance with one, Medicare-like program) and cut down on the need for so many insurance middle-men would leave more resources for actual medical care–and real medical innovation.

http://pnhp.org/news/does-universal-health-care-suppress-innovation/

The rest is you whining like a bitch kek. No need to greentext that bullshit.

Also, burden of proof is on you to show me that universal healthcare would result in no innovation.

Considering I said "not all regulations are the same" and THIS was your response implied you were saying ALL regulations result in higher higher prices. That also implied you didnt believe in regulations at all. You cant blame me for seeing your words as this given the context.

>Also the fact that you don't need price controls when a product reaches "carrying capacity"
Eventually due to population increasing there would be a finite amount of land to work with and not enough homes for people. That would result in scarcity for homes which by NOT doing things the way Im mentioning would indeed cause prices to hike up meaning youre wrong here

You could though. For instance you could literally move to another state that's has an empty home and forgo your current home once youve found a new one. Then to rub it in more, after our taxes pay for the development, they then suck our income from us directly through rent. This is not a free market. There is no capital risk for the developer in most cases. We shoulder their mortgage while they collect interest. As I said to the other anon, stop defending being cucked.

Well ive lived in a communist regime that at one point decided to restrict property ownership to one house/apartment per family. I was just a kid, not even a teenager but i can tell you what people did. Started registering houses on their cousins, in-laws, grown children, whatever other family members they could find. That of course required trust, and limited those other people's ability to buy property, but it was a very popular practice. I guess some people are more likely to buy and hoard properties than others, even when they cant really profit off of them because gommunism.

And why did they not accumulate any savings to deal with an economic downturn? It's because the government has made a full commitment to take money from other people to take care of them if things go bad. There's no reason for anyone to save money in a system like that, and besides a decent 20% or so of the money that could be going to their pay is being taking away to prop up the current social security, medicare, and unemployment insurance schemes.
Seems like it'd be a lot easier to pay for these expenses if you had an extra 20% pay.

Healthcare in the USA in expensive because of government regulation. It is a semi socialist system that the people have to pay for. It's stupid I agree with you in that sense. The government controls the market with the FDA which is really just a tool to monopolize big pharma companies and not a tool to keep the people safe from faulty drugs. Having the governemnt subsidize all healthcare in the United States does not solve the problem of healthcare being too expensive. Actually it would make it more expensive like all other things that are subsized by the government. Getting rid of the FDA would drop drug prices roughly 70% by allowing competition into the market which would result in high quality, low cost drugs.

In market economics capital accumulation trends towards monopolization as people with more capital can outcompete their competitor not through merit but raw economic force. A sufficiently rich firm can run at a loss, pay agents to commit espionage, or even outright buy the competition. These are but a few of many unsavory methods that have nothing to do with efficiency or the quality of the product/service. Eventually the people--and later corporations--with the most capital start using that influence to impact governance and pay off the state itself, making the state nothing more than a corporate arm of the oligarchy. In this way capitalism trends towards monopolization of markets and authoritarian governments. In short, the idea of a "free" market is in contradiction with itself because the market will eventually encroach on its own freedoms.

I have no idea why you bring /pol/ topics in here, but health care here cost me 42 eur/month if i'm 18+ and unemployed. If I have a job, employer covers it. Everything is free, except for minor services like paperwork, few euros here and there if you are in deep shit and need to go through few doctors in a day and keep going back and forth to fill blanks and shit. Basically you pay by your time, not with your money.
Dental work can be free too, but lines are to big to get it, usually kids and older people in those lines. Most people rely on private sector which is booming today, boomed 30 years ago, and will boom in next century, since private sector can offer better services.
Your second point.
I don't understand the issue, it must be very american specific.
