So I have $150K in shitcoins but still living with mummy and daddy. Is there any reason for me to not cash out ~$10k and get an apartment for a year? Or should I cash out a bigger amount, pay for capital gains tax, and get a mortgage? The only problem with that is i only work part-time and I don't want the bank to know how much crypto i have. It just seems somewhat of a waste of 10k to spend it just on rent knowing i won't get to keep/reinvest anything out of it after a year.

I don't understand why the bank would know your total portfolio amount, and not just the amount you are cashing out.

its none of the banks business how much crypto you have. The feds already know about anything you're doing. A private or public bank is just there to handle the funds you allow them to.
