20578004 No.20578004 [Reply] [Original]

Deutsche Telekom subsidiary T-Systems is now a Chainlink (LINK) node operator.

It is significant that Deutsche Telekom, as one of the leading companies in Germany with over 200,000 employees and a market capitalization of $ 80 billion, is to become a provider of decentralized data feeds that are paid for in cryptocurrency. T-Systems calls this field of activity "generalized mining":

"By providing real-world data for the Chainlink network, T-Systems MMS carries out so-called 'generalized mining', in which it provides an IT service for a blockchain network and for the reliable provision with digital assets Because DeFi has significant value, such IT services play an important role in the entire Ethereum ecosystem. "

T-Systems operates in the digital transformation business of large corporations and medium-sized companies. The company employs more than 2,000 people and generated sales of 176 million euros in 2019.

Roaming as a possible future topic
Gleb Dudka, an analyst at T-Systems MMS, told Cointelegraph that the company believes it is responsible for supporting the public network infrastructure:

"You could even say: obligation as a telecommunications company to be a public blockchain network infrastructure provider."

T-Systems will initially only be a node operator, but according to Dudka, telecommunications-specific use cases for blockchain tech - such as roaming billing - are being considered.

Let me break it down for you
T mobile is a company with 9B revenue each year. That's 3x the marketcap of Chainlink. They are publicly announcing that they will run a node. Sergey said this in a podcast this week:
"If a multitude of data sources are not available, we try to get the data provider to run a node themselves"
This directly applies to what's happening here.
(source: see Sergey's latest twitter post and listen around 30 min mark)

Then 1 week ago we had this news:
https://de.cointelegraph.com/news/telefonica-deutsche-telekom-and-vodafone-use-blockchain-for-roaming-settlement

The same company working together with other providers to see how blockchain can improve their revenue:
"The solution was developed by the blockchain startup Clear and is intended to reduce the capital costs for telecommunications companies, support faster revenue recognition and enable more efficient billing of their cross-company business and work processes."

This PoC was made by a startup called Clear
https://techcrunch.com/2020/02/05/clear-gets-13m-series-a-to-build-high-volume-transaction-system-on-the-blockchain/
"By putting these high-volume, cross-border transactions onto the blockchain with these smart contracts to act as automated enforcer of the terms, it means that instead of waiting until the end of the month to find errors and begin a resolution process, this can be done in real time, reducing time to payment and speeding up conflict resolution."

2nd part

Clear is a big name in the telecommunication focused part of blockchain. "Huh what's that?" you might ask - so did I - but see pic related. Lots of potential usecases. Not very sexy, but all very much in need of a way to bridge the gap between offchain data and blockchain, all with a singular source of data and hence that's why they will all run their own chainlink node.

Clear’s Co-Founder and Executive Chairman Eran Haggiag commented at the time of the blockchain roaming service announcement that “leading industry bodies such as the GSMA and the GLF are now pushing for industry adoption [of blockchain]across multiple use cases.”
Source: https://www.rcrwireless.com/20200715/carriers/telecos-blockchain-mobile-payments-insurance-claims-more#

In summation, Haggiag stated that the solution will “eliminate the complexity and streamline the process of B2B settlements.”

And on the clear site:
"Clear integrates with legacy payment solutions via APIs, connecting all payment solutions to the network for automatic settlement. Furthermore, Clear has pioneered an enterprise-grade payment network over a closed network which diminishes transactions fees and transfer times."

To me, it's CLEAR that Chainlink is, once again, way ahead of the curve and is cementing itself as the go-to oracle solution for the telecommunication industry, a 1.2 Trillion USD industry.

Yes it is, and still TMobile and in that regard everybody else does it since years. Your data has been been sold whenever you filled out an online form or got some payback cards, made a contract with an ISP or got your licence renewed and regulators cant do shit about it. They certainly have tried, but with Blockchain you mitigate the risk in such a way, that no matter how illegal it is, you can profit by it without being in any shape or form responsible.

They're operating a node atm, so aren't providing their own data. they're running jobs on their node like all the others, jobs selected by people paying for the service who are selecting the data they need to get.

It is, since it's tied into how the companies track your usage for billing. When you're in a range of a cell tower, you're connected to their network. That means they can get a rough estimate of your location, even without GPS enabled. Every search, website, email, phone call is all being automatically tracked and recorded. The information is there, you just aren't interesting enough to look at. Anything that isn't encrypted data is fair game, and if it is encrypted it just means having the right keys. The privacy laws and massive population are the main factors that keep big brother from watching you 24/7. Part of the Patriot Act is the government is allowed to tap on your phone company's shoulder and do a comprehensive investigation on your cellular activity.

God i hope some rich linkie pays to have an agent brush past Sergey, taking skin cells with a toothbrush. Collect genetic information from the sample and modifies it to make it XX. Then breeds a female sergey. From there we can raise Sergette to be a depraved, sex mad whore who does anything on camera for us /biz/bros as we chuck link her way.

"KIKE NIGGER JEWS AGAIN!" Sergey roared stomping into his office decorated to look suspiciously like the Cayman Islands.
"What's the problem this time?" inquired Adelyn looking up from her wet dictionary with a jaded glance.
Rory and Thomas stood over in the corner by the coffee machine. Rory shrugged his shoulders, Thomas rolled his eyes and mouthed "not again" to Rory. Rory, not wanting to get involved in yet another morning 'incident', thought of his wife's son and all they had built together.
"Well..." Sergey began before staring into space for a solid 42 seconds. The others had grown accustomed to this inevitable delay and waited patiently.
"The media, in all their wisdom, cannot see the value of smart contracts; but flippantly share BLM bullcrap". “It’s like a torrent of shit published minute by minute hour by hour!” Rory and Thomas kept their poker faces while Adelyn blew a big bubble of blue HubbaBubba, seemingly immune to the rhetoric, possibly because she was an Asian woman on loan from the Chinese state department.
"And, what's worst," Sergey continued jumping up and down, his fat violently oozing, his chubby arms flailing wide around, "that Microsoft dude is coming today and I'm just not in the mood to talk about "how much I care about BLM"” Sergey fingered the air overemphasizing the quotes and the problem.
"Aww just focus on your oracles sweetie" said Adelyn cooing, "that's what he's come for. Try and stay focused!"
"yeah focused and 1keoy" thought Sergey. Out loud he said with a wink "You're right my little spelling bee, everyone come over here for a group huddle"
Rory and Thomas looked over at each other and sighed in unison and Adelyn complied with a ‘white people walking past you grimace’ expression on her face.
Each put their hands into the center, "One Two Three, We Just Win" they shouted together smiling the Smart Contract mandated smile
