My parents charged me rent when I was only making maybe $500 bucks a month. I didn’t have it to pay them a lot of the time so I would just sleep in my car to avoid going home to face them. Finally I moved away. Haven’t spoken to them since August 2014. I don’t expect an inheritance either. Good news is that since then I made it on my own, and they won’t ever get a crumb from me.

Late reply but no on the grandparents. Paternal side died and had their meager savings raided by my aunts and uncles (they got my great grandparent's more reasonable inheritance too).
