20499876 No.20499876 [Reply] [Original]

There is no mechanism by which AMPL generates value. Without a steady stream of buyers, the price will collapse. Shills will invoke terms like rebase and geyser and 12th dimension economic theory in order to make you believe that AMP can defy elementary logic. This is all just obfuscation to detract from the fact that it is a ponzi scheme.

The only reason people are buying and holding is because of the extraordinary rebase. Some of them genuinely believe they found a money printer. As soon as the massive amount of FOMO money disappears, AMP will sink like a stone.

Ample Questions

Ruffle my smooth brain please. Are most of these question inherent with all coins?

0. Ponzi? Isn’t Social Security a Ponzi Scheme in the same manner but with different control mechanisms?

1. Trust? If phase 1 depends solely on profit-seeking actors in the marketplace to reach equilibrium then who are we trusting with this system? Traders? Holders? Could nefarious profit seeking hurt the protocol or users? Like the big short, only nerdier?

2. Possible attack vectors? For example, what if a nefarious entity (government, competitor) cornered the market?
Theoretically they could pump it, crash it, suppress it, then take control. Is this just an inherent risk with every coin?

3. Couldn’t Bitcoin be infinite by moving a decimal down a few zeros? I understand BTC is slow, bulky, and not a unit of account, but couldn’t this tech just be adapted others?

4. Could exchanges start charting correctly and disrupt the distinct volatility fingerprint?

5. The goal is to decouple from Bitcoin's price pattern. But don’t the early stages dependent on human emotion? The protocol depended on profit-seeking actors who are fulled by fear and greed and trust?

6. 𝚲 “It’s a Lambda you Burger!” What symbolisms/metaphors are invoked by using the shield pattern of the Spartan army and naming it Ampleforth?

>you know what generated tulips value during the bubble? supply and demand lol. not the argument you think it is
you can say that about ANYTHING! its the same argument bitcoin has dealt with. but with BTC - it became a store of value/digital gold and still holding $9k. with AMPL - you have a base money which expands and contracts automatically based on supply and demand and distributes new supply (or decreasing supply) to all its holders. Economists have been talking about this for a long time - in theory - its much more profound than "digital gold"

>> No.20500884

>>20500808
no it doesnt. USD value of BTC expands and contracts and distributes to its holders, not BTC. if you have 1btc ---> you will have 1btc. which means that you cant transact with BTC (hence digital gold) with AMPL its opposite - USD value stays constant (in theory) and AMPLs expand and contract. so you can transact with it. Like fiat. What btc is SUPPOSED to do.

IF IT WORKS - this tech has HUUGGE implications - right now its still an experiment but im glad im part of it.

>0. Ponzi? Isn’t Social Security a Ponzi Scheme in the same manner but with different control mechanisms?

yeah i agree. TIME makes most investments ponzi-like
>1. Trust? If phase 1 depends solely on profit-seeking actors in the marketplace to reach equilibrium then who are we trusting with this system? Traders? Holders? Could nefarious profit seeking hurt the protocol or users? Like the big short, only nerdier?
the protocol. nefarious profit seekers can crash the price or inflate it (if they have enough money) but not sure if that hurts the protocol, i think it hurts the market - people might sour on it... BUT there will be people who will buy - so the cycle will start again (IMO)
>2. Possible attack vectors? For example, what if a nefarious entity (government, competitor) cornered the market?
Them buying in will also increase the supply as well. so i guess you can get 51% of the supply and ... do what with it? what can they accomplish if the price trends to 1$ and the supply adjustments happen to all holders
>Theoretically they could pump it, crash it, suppress it, then take control. Is this just an inherent risk with every coin?
AMPL is prob the most suited for this
>3. Couldn’t Bitcoin be infinite by moving a decimal down a few zeros? I understand BTC is slow, bulky, and not a unit of account, but couldn’t this tech just be adapted others?
No, it needs to be coded in. with BTC the USD fluctuates (digital gold) and with AMPL (the AMPLs fluctuate) (Fiat)

>4. Could exchanges start charting correctly and disrupt the distinct volatility fingerprint?
what do mean by charting? would disrupting the volatility just be more volatility??

>5.

exactly, thats why it is uncorrelated. because it has its own market incentives to move the price. right now, it will still be affected by BTC price since low MC.

Hi anons, high iq here:
Something doesn’t look healthy. They designed a protocol that get rebase above 1.05 indefinitely. What that does, it inflates mcap artificially. Theoretically after every rebase if no one sells the price stays the same and mcap increases, you literally creates value out of thin air, it didn’t require buying power to increase that value of marketcap.
Now let’s do a experiment, let decide to rebase daily for a month mcap will be in the millions. Let’s say nobody sells any coin during that period. After 30 days, everyone tries to sell. Did you see what you just did, the artificial amount of mcap created out of thin air is going to vanish the same way it was created, the moment they start selling as there is no buying pressure.

What are the implications? Mcap could get in the billions artificially in few weeks than you start having a wave of sellers, guess what it’s going to crash big time, the buyers weren’t there in the first place and they weren’t the one responsible for the mcap inflation, the protocol did.
I am really curious to see what will happen when everyone pull the rug at xx b$ mcap and no buying power to match that inflated artifical mcap. A disaster about to happen

>> No.20501665

>>20501578
>if no one sells
stopped reading right there. your assumptions are somewhat correct but your understanding is limited. The protocols balance is dependent ON PROFIT SEEKERS ... if there are no profit seekers - yes something has gone wrong. but so far it is working as intended... like the last crash we had. why did that occur even tho the price was at $4 and we were getting 20% rebases??? PROFIT SEEKERS..

This isn't true though, and it's been explained several times and you can see it every day by looking at the price and mcap charts.
>rebase happens
>price on uniswap immediately adjusts because there's more AMPL in the pool
>coingecko drops uniswap from the price calculation because it's now way different than CEX prices
>mcap appears to spike up
>arb bots buy from uniswap and sell on CEXs until a new price equilibrium is reached
>mcap drops back down to within a few percent of where it was before rebase
>people keep buying, raising the price and mcap until the next rebase
>repeat the process
The important thing here is that the mcap only increases because people keep buying after rebase.

so many people don't understand shit nor basic math yet still open their mouth. fill it with dicks instead of air you nigger

seems like biz is finally starting to wake up and smell the coffee. ampl is not in and of itself a ponzi, but imo the devs ran a ponzi on the geyser. the devs could have built a useful token, but fucked it up by introducing liquidity pools. they should have done nothing but develop the token and let it find price naturally. maybe snx or mkr would have picked it up as non correlated collateral giving it a shot at holding real value. right now there is nothing in it. 300m of pure speculation with no actual usage.

Hell its really hard, I know this game can go on, and even if you miss the exit point - if you are in some days already with some added coins your risk is pretty low compared to the upside.

A BS from UC Berkeley is worth a lot actually. Mid 6-figures in silicon valley.

What does Elon Musk (Paypal) know about electric cars and space shuttles?
See how retarded you sound?
As an engineer he led the Ampleforth engineering team.

Yes, in connections.

Exactly.

I didnt say this. Im telling that its not smart to HOLD today or to BUY today.

Will this ride go on? YES it will.

Will its flipp everything in its way? I dont think so yet its an experiment that is way worth watching and participating.

I just took profits even tho its not bitconnect its still overbought imo - 8k wallets, so like 5-6k people holding a 300mil mc.

Because it's all whales fren, the average amount of AMPL people are holding is worth $38.375,- and we obviously know that's not exactly the case, but it does mean a big percentage of the holders is stacked as fuck

Well, for all my talk - I might as well throw 3 ETH at it. The chance I'm getting scammed is likely 100%, but at least this will give me justification to lambast you in other threads.

We don't need every brainlet to understand AMPL. Don't understand, therefore, must be a scam is how everybody approaches crypto until they can't ignore it anymore.
Most people who buy coins do it because people smarter than they were buying.

Okay so when the price drops to $1,30 because people stop buying and AMPL is designed to go to $1,- and it lands on $1,30 for example, you lose more than half your earnings

>> No.20520993

The responses in this thread, like this one >>20518651, are far more worrying than what the OP brings up. When the shills of this pump and dump say things like "you don't need to understand how it works, just buy and it gives you money" it's time to get out. This shitcoin will be at #500 in a month.
More worrying for the overall state of crypto is that it made it into the top 50 in the first place, but I guess thats a consequence of the rebase mechanism rather than actually having anywhere near that much value.

Don't sell your amples smoothbrain, I want to see your pink wojak folder when your shitcoin loses 90% within a few days. You clearly haven't even read, or don't understand, how the token works.

To anyone else - don't FOMO and don't buy in. Take profits while you can, at least get your initial investment out.

To anyone new to /biz/, this is the kind of ESL post you should expect from pump and dump pajeets. Poor grammar, untenable grasp of English, and for reasons I can't fathom, repeated punctuation.. This coin is a pump and dump and you will see nothing posted about it on /biz/ within a week. You will, however, see very similar posts to this shilling a new uniswap shitcoin.

Semantics. It doesn't matter if the dollar value changes, if you sell all your coins after a negative rebalancing, you'll still get less than if you had sold it before.

Welcome to that lovely time of day again.

Buy in now for a 15%+ compound increase tomorrow.

The price has stayed stable all day, we are halfway to rebase with enough volume that. a 15%+ rebase - i.e. compound interest on whatever you are holding now is basically guaranteed.

If you were waiting for a drop or pullback, sorry, you didn't get it.

p.s. it takes just 16 more days with compound interest at today's level to hit a $3B market cap. 12x gain .
