20349308 No.20349308 [Reply] [Original]

all the eth devs are posting about release date in 2020, why is the price not reacting?

>> No.20349359

Dude, markets are fucking retarded. especially crypto markets.

>> No.20349440

it kinda feels like eth is where it ought to be, relative to marketcap, current usability and future potential
everything else in crypto is completely out of whack upwards
the curse and blessing of ethereum is that it's the only serious project in this sea of scams and half-baked ideas. anyone with sense is already in it and has been in it since 2016 or 2017
there's nothing flashy that will make new money want in

I'm going to trade about 100eth on shitcoins, for sure its going to pump after that

>> No.20350358

>>20349308
becuase ETH isn't a shitcoin that moves based on muh news.
ETH 2.0 will be good for a little pump but longterm it means nothing to the way ETH will accrue value. EIP 1559 is way more important.

staking is unironically never going to happen. vitalik is supposedly pushing the 2.0 rollout to january because of the fucking holiday season. if that’s not a cop out i don’t know what is

Why does anyone hold this other than temporarily to buy link?

>> No.20350654

>>20350540
No, Justin Drake said it could be released January 3rd, Vitalik said he disagreed and believes it should be sooner. Then Drake changed his mind as seen in OP.

ETH will Kneel

>> No.20350932

the honest truth is until there is an *official* announcement that circulates the newswires that Eth 2.0 launches, ethereum won't have it's gigantic moon mission. right now it's pretty much staying on par with bitcoin and slowly outgaining it. however, if you're smart money, you're buying in now IMO. the team seems to be doubling down on releasing this year and when they do, it's going to be one of the most epic pumps of all time as people rush into get a piece of ETH to stake. almost every staking coin has pumped (knc, tezos, cardano, etc.) upon launch, and those are all pretty much shit coins compared to the exposure and adoption ETH has

High iq post. There have been three innovations since the dawn of crypto.

1. Decentralised protocol for maintaining a chronological list (Bitcoin)
2. Zero knowledge range proofs (Monero)
3. Decentralised State machine (ethereum)

Everything else in this whole space is building on these three innovations.

There’s only one innovation left imo.
An O(1) scaling option based on zk proofs that contains all three elements above^. At the moment this doesn’t exist...

>> No.20351194

>>20351015
except it appears no one really gives a fuck about #2 or else monero would be more popular. once ETH scales it's pretty much the chad coin and game over, and they've already developed privacy features that work well enough if anyone needs them

>> No.20352160

>>20349308
Because it's a 2 year "Update". Phase 0 that they are talking about does not address scaling AT ALL. Congestion will be the same after the release and gas prices will be just as high if not higher. Vitalik has already discussed slow roll out for 2.0 in phases, but phase 0 does nothing for scaling issues. If you are looking for congestion alleviation, that's in 2021 at the earliest and who knows when.

>> No.20352205

>>20350932
The problem is there is no "Eth 2.0 launch". It's a 2 year process (and could be more going by this team). This phase 0 that everyone is getting excited about doesn't even address the scaling issue.

Imagine shitcoin X had one major flaw and the devs of shitcoin x had been saying theyd fix it for two years and hadnt even started the implementation of the fix
Would you trust shitcoin x?
Why the fuck would you trust these eth fags?
Chainlink is going to take the entire stack with inputs and outputs plus arbitrum

Youve already lost

>> No.20352270

Zero knowledge proof tech is going to be incredibly important or else the chain will grow to such an immense size that only Google and the NSA will be able to actually verify transactions. Then we are back to trusting an institution and defeating the purpose of the distributed ledger. You can't distribute a ledger if it's so large that you need a server farm to validate.

>> No.20352294

Probably not going to happen. They've been saying this for years lol.

>>20352270
It would be so much easier to validate ethereum state if it was on a utxo model. the account model is the stupidest design in crypto, it requires you to have a massive state tree to validate that takes forever to download and sync and will only get worse, whereas bitcoin does not have this issue. Maybe zk snarks can help but I'm not sure.

Because value will accrue at the end points. Chainlink, Maker, Compound, each of them will be worth a lot more than ETH itself.
ETH is just a boring pipe connecting all the interesting projects. ETH block producers will accept fee payments in other token in the future and then its really lights out for the Ethereum price.

>Monero doesn't use zero knowledge range proofs
It does? You probably know what it is and our definition of zero knowledge is semantically different.

It proves that a value is within a range without revealing the range. That’s a zero knowledge proof.

disagree with this. ETH is still used for a ton of shit: it's an onboard currency to shitcoins still, used as collateral in DeFi, needed for gas, good as a store and transfer of value. it's also gone up 150% since march, so i think people are taking a lot of those gains for granted because it's only slightly beating the overall market and they are face melting like Link. ethereum's time will come, especially when bitcoin breaks out
