I'll give you another piece of advice, the snowball.

Here's the analogy I use, feel free to steal it.

Let's say you have a snowball, and you're on a 45 degree mountain. There's two ways to go, up or down. Now lets say the feet or (or meters for you foreign fags) is percentages, 1 percent is 1 foot etc. The wind is the "market" and the market can either blow up or down. So first look at it as if the wind is "blowing" the snowball down. On a light breeze, the snowball will roll 1 foot down a second, so drop 1 percent per hour. The snowball has no momentum so it slowly rolls, right? Now, if the wind picks up, it will roll 5 feet down a second. Now, if its rolling 5 feet down per second, that snowball is picking up snow, and rolling faster, so the momentum in it will keep it rolling downhill, and it will roll and roll and roll until it reaches a flat surface on the mountain. The snowball will not suddenly stop and magically roll back up hill, and if it does, it's because it hit a rock, flew up, and will land back down, aka a dead cat bounce.

So now we know how shit dumps, but now let me explain "pumps". The wind is now blowing the snowball up the hill, but there's a few factors. As it goes up, the snowball is picking up snow, and gaining momentum, meaning the faster it moves, the less traction it will have. The snowball moves 1 foot a second upwards, it has traction as it's not going mega fast, it can slip, but it wont go far, for the most part. Now, if the wind blows that fucker up 5 feet a second, it's gaining mass extremely easily, has no traction, and is prone to slipping. This means that if that snowball has traveled 25 feet in 5 seconds, it is huge, and unstable as fuck. Occasionally Mr. Snowball gets lucky and finds flat ground, but 90 percent of the time, Mr. snowball gained too much mass too quickly, and the momentum causes it to slip and roll its ass back down the mountain.
