Are you me? I broke $14k flipping AMD on friday. Plan to be $30,000 by the end of the year dumping in paychecks.

Plan to hold WMT & MSFT while aggressively flipping AMD, AMZN, and MU. I was shorting tesla but fuck that shit my heart can't take it, I'm still new to this, but I got out making a grand so I'm happy with that.

I really want to dump into Travel, that shit is going to explode once we know this covid shit is over. Till then tech and ecommerce only for me.

Uh no. Why would Disney buy them? They'd fork out over double the money now v.s buying when the company's stock was still pennies. Before people bring up "Stan Lee", there's a big hole in this logic. Namely Spider man. Disney don't own that property, Sony does. If uniting all Stan Lee stuff was the goal Spider man would be first on the list after the marvel acquisition I'd think. Also I'm pretty sure Disney could've bought the Stan Lee stuff before GNUS got it if they wanted it.

Shilling EVRI MVIS and NIO right now. Also been shilling SOLO there so I can make a little more money out of this gay car, got in at $2 and have stop losses set to keep a good profit. EVRI and NIO are actually good though, the shilling is mostly to encourage buying and I usually do it after it's already risen a good deal to get people who are late to give it an extra bump. Do this on weekdays at night too not just on the weekends. You'd be surprised how many people you can get to consider buying a stock by just liking something they said even if it was dumb. If you are really saying that AMZN, TSLA, and NVDA are going to be the top performers than you can DIY 3x Leverage and not bother with the ETF. Either through margin, which I would be careful with capital allotments, or trading on the call contracts in particular.

>I said buy in time
I gave you the buy in time. Airlines are bull market industries and there are still too many of them. There will be bankruptcies and consolidations that will take years to pan out. UAL, DAL, and AAL have all declared bankruptcy at least at one point. Shareholders were wiped out even if the companies survived afterward. AAL already started diluting shares and there is a very real probability that DAL and UAL might at some point as well. Which means the "previous high" would be lower.
You'd already have made the gains you seem to think exist had you just gone with SKYW.
Airlines took 6 years to recover from some allah ackbars crashing some planes. This was much more prolonged pain that affects both current and future travel plans as people realize airlines are really just flying petri dishes.
>If you think airlines won't recover in the next 5-7 years because of some flu you're tripping hard.
They will, but why would I go with one of the weaker ones? Also why would I move now and not 2-3 years from now when that downside risk is gone.
And if you really don't agree with me than what the fuck do you care about 1 red candle? You should be all in and dumping more in at every opportunity.

Its literally a union that allows you to fly to Malta in 2 hours, open up a company and never pay taxes again. Or fly to Cyprus to do the same.
You can go anywhere you like, live anywhere you like and even decide which country you want to base your tax residency in.

Hell, rent a flat in Bulgaria or Romania and pay 10% flat on any income while living on 300€ a month at a sunny beach at the black sea.

DCA into a longterm position never makes sense in my opinion.

DCA makes sense when you bought MSFT at 220, it dumps to 180 and you buy again to bring your average down to 200. Thats a sensible DCA.

Youre holding long term. In 40 years the daily average fluctuation will be bigger than a crash today. It really doesnt matter when you buy if you invest and want to hold for longer than 10 years.

If youre that concerned just buy a protective put that you can convert into more money if we crash again. Then you buy the dip and sit back again.

SpaceX actually has advanced tech, rockets and success. Their prices are beating every other competitor, their products seem outstanding and they still grow. Hell, they basically control a whole industry by now. Not only that, but by now they are a US defense asset that is pretty much guaranteed to get more and more contracts and money, just to keep their RD in the states.

Its a commercially viable operation with a guaranteed future. Its not some SPCE, which pumped on LEO tourism alone.
Hell, I didnt even buy TSLA, but you would be stupid to think that SpaceX would not literally moon to the heavens just based on retail dreams alone.

how about writing covered calls - what is (Your) opinion on that? Since I will now have the underlying I can potentially make money on covered call premiums, assuming the price of the underlying doesn't skyrocket above the strike price - yes?

what would happen should the option buyer exercise the call - assuming the underlying stock price is greater than the stock price? I'd have to sell all of my underlying stock yes? then I guess I lose a bit of money and could just buy back the underlying. sounds like I could just write calls at insane OTM strike prices and make a tiny tiny bit of money on premiums.

DCA as "average up" and "average down" is a big meme because its "timing the market" with a different name.
The more conventional reason to "DCA" is because you don't have infinite capital and it's easier to budget and keep doing it over the long term if its a steady amount. Like you think "its the X of the month/year, need to put in another 5k" or whatever.

Thats correct. Youre essentially selling lottery tickets to idiots.

Congrats, you are now realizing why options are actually not that scary. And in fact, usually are better than the actual underlying itself.
The horror stories you may hear about options are always related to selling puts. Imagine having to buy batches of 100 shares of a stock that is declining but you have to pay a higher price.

I don't have a picture insulting enough. You'll have to accept this one.

Is there a limit to the amount of shares a public company can have on the market or something? The P/E could be as high as they want. Goldman Sachs or whichever investment bank aren't as dumb as you seem to think they are. If they know every elon worshipper is going to buy, they'll price it as high as they want. Yes. 100 shares per exercised contract
> how much money would I lose in this instance? it's still a bit confusing
You don't lose money unless the strike price was below what you paid for the shares originally. You also got to collect a premium from the contract buyer effectively "lowering" your cost basis.
What you give up with a covered call is the potential infinite upside every stock has (you are giving that to the call buyer). Which, let's face it, isn't that realistic. The work in writing covered calls is writing them on stocks that aren't that volatile. You want to give seductive lottery tickets that likely aren't winners. Learn your greeks.

Depends on the greeks. If its too high the premium you can get will be pathetically small. If its too low you are likely to sell the underlying . You can, of course, buy back the shares but that will incur on the gains from collecting premiums.
There is also an understated "risk" to covered calls. As part of a portfolio strategy what it will do over the long term if you aren't watchful is tend to remove the top performers leaving you with the overall underperformers of your portfolio.

You can turn $5 into $400. The risk of course is that the market manipulator pulls the rug. I used to work in ultra-luxury retail in London and boy are there a lot of nouveau-riche Chinese and Arabs. You can sell them anything if they're convinced it'll make them look cool. The Chinese were notorious for buying the finest french wines, often in the 5 figure range, and drinking it with coke or club soda. It's insane.

Yes, I flipped $770 into $18,000 in 5 trading sessions between Jan 27 and Feb 5.

Step 1: identify undervalued stock, with low IV and earnings around the corner that has yet to participate in recent rally. (For me, this was AMZN in Jan while it was still under $2k)

Step 2: buy a weekly call(s) for the week following earnings. Go all-in. (For me, this was a 2200 strike call for the 1st week of Feb. It was the closest strike I could afford and gave me enough time to hold and not be exactly right/ITM yet still make bank)

Step 3: Sell your call for massive gains (in my case, it was $4 or 5000)

Step 4: roll your profit into OTM TSLA calls expiring the following week (i had a 700 and a 770)

Step 5: flip $5k into $16k, and hate yourself for selling the 700 at 750 and shorting an 850 against your 770, thus limiting your profit to a paltry $11k

Step 6: long platinum futures and top off the account another $2k overnight

Step 7: pay yourself back the principle and proceed to ease up on the high risk behavior going forward
