Hey biz, never bought into crypto before and I see chainlink is up to $6. Should I buy now, or wait in case it drops? How long do you think I'd be waiting?
I'd be happy if I only broke even or made a small profit on my first investment, say a year from now.

>> No.20265849

>>20265834

buy a little bit now. keep buying regularly even if it goes up. buy a lot more if it drops.

What would you suggest I spend at the moment? I have about £2k in savings. Don't want to blow it all, but I don't like it sitting there since Sterling is dropping.

Anon don't be hasty to spend your savings. Keep enough in the bank on case shit hits the fan. I think six months is fine, 12 months at the most. Don't run off investing all your savings.

Start to dca now though into crypto and your savings if you must

£2k isn't much for savings.. Are you finiancially sound? Only put in what you can afford to lose first off. I like to live knowing I have 1-2 year of savings to cover my ass if anything bad happens... If you can throw some money in to it just buy low and hold, or.. try sell high but you won't know if you'll be priced out

I did also spend about 1.25k on gold sovereigns last year, which have consistently gone up as things get less stable. So there's always a reserve in case things go full great depression. You think $100 would be a good first spend?

Go all in and then don't look at the price for at least 10 years, or until you hear your coworkers talking about it, then you'll know its time to sell.

Anon, really depends on how old you are/current living arrangement. Are you in your teens/early 20s? Living with parents? Currently working? If you answered yes to all of these, you can take more risk with your savings. I would start DCA aggressively. If you're already a 40 yo boomer with a family to support and no job, then get off this board because sorting your life takes priority. Either way, you need a steady income (which is a part-time job or full on employment for most of us). Investing shouldn't be seen as a way to multiply your initial investment. It's literally just a better alternative to holding cash. If you have no income and shit hits the fan, you need cash, not linkies.

Yeah sure. Build your savings and investments together. 2000 euros of links isn't much. At this stage there's more downside than upside (no matter what stinkies will say). Don't chase this shit because I did and it is absolutely unnerving when you have all your money in crypto

I'm a student at the moment in a technical college and live quite modestly, had a lot left over from my loan after last year. I figure it's a good idea to diversify what's left. Will be going back next year with more student bux.

lmao, "investing" the "leftover" from your loan. Classic play. Go all in MATIC. You may be a millionaire in a year, or not. But you can't win if you don't play.

Loan bad, grant good. % APR on your loan? That will eat in to any of your investment.. Pay off that loan before anything

>> No.20266225

>>20266193
Again I do live modestly, and can pay off the interest at the end of a year to at least keep the loan from growing. Frankly the way it's going with all these useless degrees the whole setup will probably fail before I'm done paying it off.

Dump that gold. Corona is fading and shit’s stabilizing so gold will level off and then start dropping. Gold was a smart play during crisis but the crisis is ending so take those gains and put them in link which has way more upside potential.

Not thinking of going all in, even if I've got a reliable money stream for now I think it'd be too much stress to have so much money (for me) riding on something volatile. I'd just like to experiment with a few different currencies, put a few hundred here and there and see what happens after a month or two.
>>20266190
Lol, maybe I'll put a few quid in alongside some others. Everyone's reeing about chainlink though so I'm assuming it's a safer bet.
>>20266253
I think after 20 years in the UK iirc. Although they possibly judge it on a case by case basis, if you've been paying it off consistently I doubt they'd stop.
>>20266246
Wasn't trying to make a profit on the gold. I actually just wanted something physical that'd not drop and would still have value if shtf.

A year from now you'll be rich if you could hold it, most on this board have a problem holding it instead of gambling.

The timeline is speeding up.

In that case I'd probably go more risky. You have your whole adult life ahead of you with good prospects thanks to your degree. If the risk pays off, you give yourself a big headstart. If not, you only set yourself back a month in wageslaving (and that's assuming you lose the entire £2k). What's defined as 'more risky' is obviously dependent on your risk appetite.
You make a very good point about stressing over investments. I guess start off small when it comes to risky assets (crypto) to get used to the highs/despair with pumps/dumps and work your way up.
