Two metrics aren't considered:
- The raw rate of interracial relationships. If chinks only intermix at a rate of 0.1% but nigs do so at a rate of 90%, the significance of the marriage stability is different (e.g. chinks only intermix when they consider the other party to be marriage material, whereas nigs intermix for puss puss).
- The premarital stats (same idea, but you could find out that chinks leave instead of marrying without being sure).

You have to detach any emotion related to this. See a job as a mechanical thing: you do a series of set actions, and you get money for it. Ignore everything about "performance" or people's opinions, or review or "promotion". Those don't actually come from working hard or well anyway, they come from having a boss who's not a snake regardless of any other factors.
Once you manage to do that, you'll find that working is almost fun (it's practically a form of sleep-walking and thus very restful).

Let's see; work for state government and able to fully retire after 27 years (or use loopholes to cut that down a bit yet not get dinged for it), get health insurance and a pension for life once you retire plus a separate 401k. or work in the private sector and work till your age 65.. if they don't outright fire you cause they just can. Smart Grid and Micro grid is a cool thing hitting the markets now. Though I've never heard of this company despite knowing a lot about utilities.
The mPulse SCADA system looks nice, and the brochure shows it working with an SEL relay, which is very good if true.
Is this company's software and hardware aimed at non utility? I have a hard time seeing this replacing things like ASPEN EasyPower, PowerBI, and PowerFlow for grid analysis, and their examples are a golf course and a military base. Do they offer installation and support?

i'm holding a Canadian REIT myself and I'd like to think the risk is much less than US-side given our slightly different outlook. It's still paying full dividends, but if things get really bad with rent income (especially with all the rights and protections that tenants get when they're unable to pay rent), the risk is that the REITs may fall behind their own interest payments as a result.

but REITs are very broad, check what sectors they specialize/diversify in and what their tenants are, see if you're optimistic about it. If you wanna bet on Canada, then there's H&R and RioCan. Don't bother with CHP because that's almost back to ATH (it's anchored around Loblaws stores which performed better due to covid).

there's also the whole "new normal" thing that'll decrease office rent income.

so basically there's going to be a portion of their commercial real estate holdings that woudn't be giving rent income while the REIT itself is still on the hook for interest and whatever maintenance
irrc, RioCan's rent collection was less than 66% for Q1 2020 so it's not like some commercial real estate weren't already having issues even before covid (ongoing issue with rise of online retailers). Still went with RioCan since it's a pretty diversified REIT with location/type and the tenants themselves, and since they're still paying full dividends.

Anon you got into a real bad line of thinking with “only dividends matter and /smg/ doesn’t care about dividends”

It’s simply a matter of what stage the company is in, and how that effects valuation, and therefore share price. There is one absolute retard you should never bother trying to explain things to, and that’s the guy posting Korean pop stars on every post, and double spacing every line. Some other complete idiots too, but barring them, most of us understand what it means for a stock to pay a dividend: it means that company’s growth is slowing such that less value will be produced by reinvesting current earnings.

The market values growth highly, especially right now. If a company takes market dominance, it’s a position that can last a very long time. If a company looks poised to take the majority share of its market that means a long time of potentially very high returns. They can become the big dog. But if a company has slowed its growth, or stops growing, it’s essentially game over. It’s in decline.

The point of the anti-dividend thing isn’t that dividends are bad, it’s that companies bought for their dividends have been majorly underperforming their growth counterparts.

And honestly the management of the most successful companies likely know more about market conditions than I do. If they want to pile up their cash or make an acquisition they probably have good reason. I think they’ll get their bonuses and stock options vested regardless.

>“only dividends matter and /smg/ doesn’t care about dividends”
Yeah that's a good summary of what I obviously came across as, since that's what everybody argued against, but it was not what I meant.
Here's how I see it. Companies are like balloons that swell up and lift, and we try to invest in such balloons. Eventually, balloons get big enough that they float over to another room, where the game is a bit different, that's the dividend room. We're here in the growing balloon room, and of course dividends (and thus fundamentals) don't seem to matter much to us here. We have seen loads of examples of balloons that swell fine despite fundamentals, making people very rich.
But my chicken-little genre point is that, as I understand the world, the reason the whole thing works, that you can get rich by investing in swelling balloons in this room, is that there is another room where big balloons are useful and they pay a lot of money for them. And that as fundamentals are now going generally bad, that will mean big balloons in the other room will pay less in dividends, which means the guys in that room will start paying us less when we produce a big balloon. And that, finally, is bad for us.
I don't mean to oversimplify by using balloons, I mean to move to a different domain because when I expressed the same concept in the previous thread in the actual domain of stocks, everyone interpreted my point as you summed it up.

And to extend my fabulous balloon metaphore - the fed's printing is a bit like they installed an upwards pointing fan in the growing room, swelling and lifting all the balloons, but it does less for the shrinking value of big balloons in the other room where fundamentals matter, and thus even though our balloons seem to be doing great here in the growing room right now, we're soon going to discover there's not much demand for big balloons from the other room anymore, and that's when bobo comes cycling out on his little unicycle, juggling balls and claiming to be smarter than the average bear.
