How do I stop panic selling stocks/panic closing options? Anytime I buy some stocks, the less confident I am or knowledgeable about it I panic sell the moment it dips. Eg WKHS, I panic sold at low $16/ upper $15. Undoubtedly I acted foolish and should of held even if it dropped to $13 but was frightened by the fact it was a meme stock. Utterly ignoring my own opinion of the stock outside of its movement and 4chan memeing it. Also should I buy back into WKHS? Or is the idiocy I've done in handling it just make it safer to avoid even if it were to go up to $20. Whether it crashes or not i refuse to sell this time even if it dump to $8. So for American options each put contract has a seller and a buyer. The contract has a date attached to it where it expires along with a strike price. We're going to use the hypothetical ticker BLM for our example today. Now I'm selling BLM puts that expire next Juneteenth with the strike price of $50. Now this means I'm selling some one the rights to sell me 100 shares of BLM for $50 per share. I take my 5 grand and use that as collateral incase some one wants to exercise these things early and I have to give them $5 grand for the BLM shares.

So you purchase the BLM put and pay me a premium for the contract. We'll say it was like .05 per share or $5 for the whole contract. Now BLM is trading at $55 so like you got a good deal, but that's fine because if this shit drops like 10% you'll be making some good money on that put since if BLM is trading at $49.50 you can just buy 100 shares and then sell them to me for $50 and make $45 bucks on the deal since you payed $5 bucks for the contract. There's also the part where you've got these things called greeks, and I mean if you want to understand the greeks there's a ton of shit written about them, but if you don't even understand how a put works, it's probably way too complicated for you. So like the other side of it is like BLM stays above $50 bucks and on Juneteenth your basically holding a worthless contract and I keep the $5 and get some Steel Reserve.
