I just updated from a ten year old i5 to a AMD 3600 recently. I will update again in another decade. Moores law is fucking dead and there are no consumer grade programmes that will require anything stronger than a $200 processer for the foreseeable future.

A 2015-tier PC for 2003 prices in 2023
ATM I could buy a shitty laptop for 125$, which actually isn't so shitty. It's just 50% weaker than a 800$ laptop.

I'll keep my money fluid and buy a PC every 4 years if I really want to max out.
2010-2020 has been slow. You didn't need anything higher than an I7-6900k and GTX 1080 TI, that was absolutely the best of the best you needed to run anything. Personally I think the 1060 and a I7-4790k are still handling everything you throw at them. And they're cheap as fuck now due to new shitty technology.

I do not plan on buying the garbage that is RTX 3080

No, it's mostly floating point math that GPUs are specifically designed for.

I'd just upgrade my current machine. I'm on a threadripper 32-thread atm with 128GB RAM and 2x VEGA FE. Would simply move to TRX4 threadripper, same memory, new board, and a couple of nice GPUs again.

I'll probably keep my current pc for a few more years because I don't want to downgrade from windows 7. Current specs are i5 6600k, 32g ram, gtx 2060, 3tb of ssd storage. Next build will be all flagship cpu and gpu and probably double my current storage and ram just because.

He's fucking touching the pins WTF

I wanted to reinstall my 3900x with a better fan but the stock prism fan you get with it has thermal paste already on it and that shit turns into fucking concrete horse glue. I'm not joking it is really strong. So when trying to prise it off I bent like 4 of the pins. I was in shock.
3 hours. 3 hours with a magnifying glass and a tweezer and an exacto knife and various other tools to get that shit right.

OP's pic makes me anxious.

There should be ways to recreate her with cheaper options today.
