It's more complex than that. Exchanges are obviously involved, but the thing is that chinks have been keeping this thing alive not only by printing absurd amounts of tether counterfeit usd, but by copy pasting tons and tons of shitcoins and adding them to CMC just to keep the global market cap number high enough. They added two thousand absolute bottom of the toilet bowl level shitcoins that do nothing of value in less than a year, that's like 5 shitcoins PER DAY. I've never been so sure that this market could crater like never before and it could happen in any moment.

some think this will make them rich but mpst of them are simply scammers. cryptos became the number one place to do weak ponzi schemes (so called "pump 'n' dumps") with minimal resources and nearly no dangers.
governments hate bitcoin and cryptos in general because their citizens could manage to escape from them (i.e. they could create democratic refugiums for parts of the economies). that's why scammers aren't assraped by interpol. it's nearly a zero cost action to create a new shitcoin and spam it somewhere. jeets and chinks are super competitive when it comes to labor cost per hour. crypto is dead. not because of the technology but because the scammers were allowed to sabotage the transition/ wide adoption. scammers are like the vietcong in the vietnam war or taleban in afghanistan when the russian tried to occupy it. scammers are terrorists but they are their criminals.
