When I look at the 1929 chart, it looks to me that if you started investing in 1932, the line went up in pretty much business as usual ways, no special strategies required, kind of like in the last decade now. Just buy a diverse portfolio and hold works. And I suppose an easy strategy for someone who expects a 1929 crash would be to just go all cash before the crash and then wait for couple of years before going back in. I guess I'm wondering two things. 1) During a hypothetical two year decline, is it very difficult to make money or is it about the same as now, just using a different strategy? Just use shorts instead of longs, puts instead of calls? 2) am I wrong in my at-a-glance "analysis" that buying after 1932 is just business as usual, or are there special strategies required to make money after a crash, during recovery?

I'm up nearly 20 percent this week and 150% YTD. Half assing lockdown prevents immunity but also prevents eradication. A return to normal at any point of our current situation would just resume the virus and overwhelm medical. This is probably by design though, if you have paid attention to the supply chains you would know shit was going on that is not normal.

Exactly. Flattening the curve only works in an absolute best case scenario where everyone is perfectly in sync. The fact that is impossible in a society means that this entire concept of flattening the curve is a fantasy. We can not have the economy locked down for long periods of time, not just because most Americans can not survive such a harsh time, but because civil unrest will build up and then everyone is out on the streets again. The moment people are gathering again the virus will spread, perhaps even worse than before.
