Realistically, what will the return on investment be once staking goes live for chainlink?
2%?
5%?
7%?
10%?

How many stinks do you recon i need to make a living off of purely the dividends?
I can live pretty comfy off 15-20 grand a year.

If I can get 50-100 dollar per stinks i’d be a happy man.

It's a good question. No one really knows. From what I can tell, it depends upon the success of the node you run, or the pool you stake your token on. It appears the high value contracts may be given to one pool as opposed to another, so the returns could be different, depending on who you staked with. This is the reason Linkpool tokens are so expensive. LP claim they will have access to 'high value contracts'. It's a bit murky, and I decided to just buy more Link tokens instead.

Who knows really. If the returns are too high like 12%+ a year, then more people/investors/institutions will be buying LINK which will drive the roi % down while driving LINKs own price up like how dividend stocks work. If Chainlink's network is a very safe and lucrative investment, then LINK's price is gonna go up until we reach about 3%-5% staking roi a year.
>but muh crypto is risky it might drop to 0
Once demand is there, you can check exactly how much nodes are getting paid and see if the ratio is good or not just like stock price-to-earnings ratio.

>>20080721
I'd be surprised if it's less than 5%.

>> No.20081299

So basically when staking has a high roi (in the beginning) the best option is to reinvest back into link for when roi gets low and link token price is high

Find out in V2 of Bancor this month when you are able to pool your LINK with single token exposure and collect trading fees.

so if I have 16K LINK should I pick up some of these defi scams? CMC even has a tab for them now

If it's 100% non-custodial, with no dodgy contract involved, then go ahead and 'stake' your precious Links with these dicey-looking scam-mongers.
Personally, I'd rather hold until solid, proper, non-custodial steaking appears.
Until that happens, I'm accumulating and spending every 'cup of coffee' on another Link token.
You have been warned, greed-meisters.

>> No.20081728

There are dozens of scam mongers out there.
AVOID.
Wait for the real deal. It's coming.

>> No.20081759

Sometimes I get impatient waiting for staking. But then I remember that as long as everything goes according to plan (and we maintain positive thought) that staking will mean my retirement. The start of the rest of my life. And that one day ill look back and miss reality. Struggling. So for now I savor it. Staking can come when the universe decides it is time. I can wait

>> No.20081798

>>20081299
yes. It's pretty simple dude. If chainlink is $10/token and you earn link rewards worth $10, you will recieve one link token. If link is worth $100/token and you earn link rewards worth $10 you will recieve one tenth of a token. Early staking will not only provide you with income, it will provide you with a shitload of link tokens compared to when staking becomes a mature market.

>> No.20081801

>>20081759
Or you could put your link in crypto.com earn program right now.

>> No.20081814

>>20080721
Your return is typically larger the more LINK you have and based on what contracts your node is serving. Most people will pool their LINK into nodes but larger holders will run their own nodes and get more rewards.

>with single token exposure
Meaning we can pool with LINK only and don't need to add BNT as well?

>> No.20082058

>>20081829
They had a liquidity hack which is why this is v2. Tokens in the pool were stolen. Do not fucking stake a sure thing because you want to get greedy you already made it you just have to hold and not give your link to things which are unproven
