I just bought some TLRD cheapies, $1 calls for aug. 21. Michael Burrey had his name attached to this a month or so ago. They skipped an interest payment, might file for bankruptcy, but that seems to ensure another pump or 2 before the flatline.

Low risk, high reward. This one is purely gambling. Probably throwing away a very small percentage of my WKHS gains, oh well.

While this long weekend goes on, I recommend you fellows look into DNB. I posted about it yesterday when it just got relisted, up 15% yesterday, another 8% today on relatively low volume cause nobody knows yet. Big company that used to run at 140/share, was taken private in 2018 and going back to public now. Its competitors are all around 150-170, and it’s likely to climb slow and teady in my opinion. Established company with lots of clients, little downside that I can see but research it yourselves. Almost no traction at the moment with the public, so you can get in early, and a lot of big institutional interest.

BUT UMC allegedly has ties to the CCP.

Now that the CCP and Huawei are cut off from TSMC, they're going to have to pump incredible resources into modernizing their semiconductor industry. Maybe they throw a few billion into the industry, maybe UMC gets a boatload of cash?

>i mean just based on the node sizes alone
I'm not... uhh... I don't know much about that
but no, money isn't going to make them top of the line, but I really think the CCP is going to to make some moves out of necessity and desperation. Who knows where they could turn to buy or steal the information they need to modernize their semis.

I keep being surprised by the variation in semiconductors all over. Didn't realize NXPI was Norway, who knows who would help the CCP.

I have an ok business sense, and putting all my awareness of the equities and credit markets into the bin, something just smells foul. we have the employment numbers and news of bankruptcies, but everyone seems to be going about things like we just weathered the storm and everything is going to be like before. There's so much activity and a sense of stability in rentals/housing, consumer discretionary, staples, and durables... It's just impossible, really. Something is off and I just feel it in my gut and bones that I need to be as heavy in cash as possible for the next two years. The only exception is to hedge inflation risk.
>stop dooming
It's not dooming, it's realizing that there was a shock and there's pressure built up somewhere that needs to get applied somehwere
>but it's best modeled as a natural disaster senpai
I know, but these disasters take time to fix. those jobs people left aren't likely to come back so quickly, the corps have been announcing that they're laying people off. The small businesses which employ almost half of people are still broadly getting squeezed to death like they were in 2019. we have some looming or existing supply chain issues, which i find very unsettling. a few rentals I'm prospecting for a lease are struggling to get appliances installed. The mood is just beyond acceptable positivity... I don't like it. limiting exposures right now is the right way to go, because something is going to blow between now and the next year or so.
