He didn't realize people there routinely fake gain and loss porn using "inspect element" or even photoshop for plebbit upvote points, and that the jannies there do nothing to verify any of the posts.

This story glows hard. Just like the money printer meme. You have to learn how to not be such a gullible faggot dude.

ft did a halfway factual article - including the fact /biz/king here was (actually) $16k in plus when he thought he was $730k in the red. And while I'm not familiar with RH's UI, that fact alone (when plausible) is going to prove very expensive for them indeed.

A lot, probably even most, of the gain/loss porn on the wallstreetbets plebbit board is outright faked using browser "inspect element" features and photoshop.
Even a real position can have its displayed gain/loss amplified, since it's typically rendered client side, by altering the invested capital (eg, change 1 contract to 100)
The jannies there don't verify anything.
He was inspired by LARPs.
Kind of like someone who buys that russian scam coin because people here claim to have made money from it.

He had a real account balance of 20k but because of a problem with how robinhood displays the numbers it showed him a negative 730,000 cash balance. He saw the number and instead of checking the value of his positions he jumped in front of a train.

Unironically that wouldn't have happened if his balance was reported by Chainlink oracles.
Also hit-pieces from the MSM on ANYTHING is always a buy signal and I say this as a stonks bear
