I know some of you anons have been acting suicidal lately. Stop gambling your money on stock's if your that close to ending it simply because it didn't go your way. Cool off. I don't want any of you being eternally damned so go read the Holy Bible, I recommend starting from the New Testament. Jesus Christ, who is God, came to the world to save us from sin, from eternal damnation. He died on the cross, yet 3 days later He rose from the grave claiming victory over sin and death. Believe in Jesus Christ, gain everlasting life. I pray my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ helps all of thee overcome the darkness that swallows you whole.

You have to buy to close when you sell to open (and vice versa). That said you're not "up thousands from selling [...] {calls|puts}". You're up whatever the premium was, and whenever you feel like closing the position, you will have to buy back the position at (in this case) a lower price than your entry premium. You pocket the difference. However if you keep the position open until expiration and you don't get exercised, you pocket the full premium even if the current option price is much higher than when you first sold your option.

correct, and dollar milkshake might be misguided at points, but there is a huge drain of USD shortage that should absorb the shock. I imagine that watching the 08 crisis from the POV of Greece might be similar to what we're seeing around the world and the USA is germany. I haven't looked into it, but I'm going to guess there will be striking similarities in the accounts.
>and i do believe that when inflation rears its head, the federal reserve will hike rates to fight it.
this is where I'm not sure you're right. The rates can't go up too high because we are using debt to pay off the interest on debts. if we had stronger trade accounts, it might work, but the rate cannot go up without turning the situtaion into something completely unsustainable. This will lock up the credit markets in a way that corona kind of did, but didn't because it was, as others point out, very much like a natural disaster. it just happens to be that this disaster happened right around when the whole system started tipping.

Options only trade during regular trading hours.
You will pay $1.50 * 2 * 100 if the order executes fully (i.e. $300).
The option is a $29 call expiring 7/17. Since you are buying, you are paying money to receive the right to buy the horse at the price of $29 at or before the expiry. If you don't exercise, the option expires worthless and you gain no stocks, while losing the premium you paid. You can also sell the call at a later time to close the position. The value of the call, like any derivative, can change over time after all. Generally the call will be more valuable the closer the strike is from the current price, but less valuable the closer you get from expiry, among other things. If this is your intent, you must sell before 7/17 or your option will become worthless.

>WKHS is in the running for a $5 billion dollar contract from USPS to make electric trucks for the postal service.
Key phrase being 'in the running for...'. Often when stocks go parabolic on expectation of this kind of game changing contract, they sell off if/when it happens. They sell off harder if it doesn't. Anyone trading this should be very concerned about that 20% drawdown and rebound it just did. That's thin ice. I'm not here to fud your mooner but i've seen companies go parabolic on "good fundamentals" plus high hopes, only to plow down straight to hell fir a while after the bull run.

How do I get into options?

What's a good sauce to learn that skill?

I already use Ameritrade, but a lot of the screenshots seem to be RH.

Is RH better for options even with the crashes during peak or is it like a limit order where it executes regardless as long as it's set?

You're conflating selling the contract for the contracts value and selling the contract for the stocks value. If you buy a call for $1 x 100 ($100 total), and the stock increases past your strike price, increasing the value of the option to $2 x 100 ($200). You have the option to either sell the option itself for a $100 gain or execute the option to buy the underlying asset for the strike price. >Capital markets are dumping
where?
Credit spreads don't look alarming, I think these are the right ones, right?

>corporations are dumping
Does this mean insider selling or what?

>banks are "mysteriously" holding huge contingency reserves after the law eradicated them even
Isn't that exactly what the stress tests needed to see though, lots of liquidity reserves?

>Literally the only people who still have faith in equity are the general public
If the institutions thought it was game over for stocks, you think retail investors and 401k's would keep the market at present levels?

So even if it doesn't hit $25, I can still sell off the call, assuming someone is willing to buy. This makes a lot more sense now, thanks for the help. I think I'll cancel my current call, seeing as I placed it after hours and wait for the morning or lunch dip tomorrow. Thanks again.

I personally think Majors are currently overbought and we should only be buying on dips. I'm heavy into juniors since about 3 months ago and starting last month they've been one by one exploding upwards. Juniors are good right now if you can find a high quality company who're not too overbought yet. Royalty companies are a good way of de-risking as well and I think they've had a pullback lately.

I'd move into silver miners yes, silver is essentially gold on steroids. Other metals, I'm not too knowledgeable of yet. I know copper tends not to perform well during recessions, but we are at all time lows when valuing commodities vs the Dow.

Nigger you're retarded.
1. I'm comparing bubbles
2. Equity capital markets are where corporations trade equity for cash. Why would you sell equity if the future looks rosy
3. Yes insider selling, CEO's stepped down before corona and are disinvesting themselves
4. That's exactly what happens though yes, pension funds make up some of the largest buyers. They are contractually obligated to buy equity. Nobody with a brain is picking up pennies in front of the steamroller except you.

Oh also the banks thing, the law changed so bank reserves could be at 0 but the banks are actually stacking more liquidity. Pro-tip, it's for defaults. That's the only time the bank really needs cash on hand.

>Nigger you're retarded.
How are my questions retarded?
Are they irrelevant or nonsensical?

I'm trying to learn and get more information, I didn't insult you or call you wrong. I'm fully aware that there's a lot I have to learn. I still don't have a fucking clue how dollar-swap lines work and why I'm supposed to pay attention to them.

You're retarded because I can smell the autism on you and I'm a fucking apex predator.

If you seriously want to learn, go read more. Go read everything. People here are actually braindead and watch youtube and the TV to learn what they know. Books and papers are the realm of smart people. Find something you like about finance to keep your interest and the peripheral knowledge will come as you read more.

you wouldn't even start making money until workhorse was above $30.50, and it has to be before 7/17

it's possible, and those options will probably increase in value, but it's a high premium for options that are so far "out of the money" (meaning far away from the current price)

right right they got rid of that regulation. And defaults are coming, I have no doubt about it, sure. CMBS are fucked, beyond fucked. And if oil dumps again, which is entirely possible, then yeah all that toxic debt goes up in smoke.

But didn't the Fed say they'd take all that toxic debt off their hands, and aren't they buying the CMBSes?

Is it not enough and not quick enough? Or was that just bullshit, and the Fed either doesn't understand how bad it is or doesn't care?

BUT isn't the liquidity and loan loss provisions exactly what the banks NEEDED to have on hand to pass the stress tests anyways?

Discussion is actually one of the best ways I learn... asking questions, researching the answers to make sure people aren't full of shit, and explaining things to people who might bother to read the walls of text.

>> No.20060913

Everything is toxic now because of corona, and very quickly. CMBS are being squeezed with retail and residential hard, corporate deb even investment grade is/was very exposed to default across all sectors, foreign is getting absolutely slayed. The dollar was spread way too thin and the feds idea of fixing it is spraying their fire hose at one block of burning houses and not the entire town on fire, if you understand. They cannot buy everything despite their best efforts, and the entire market is toxic right now. We know that because of foreign defaults and corporate earnings ex assets.

Books are a discussion, just follow your questions

With that amount it's very hard to turn it into serious money through normal investing. You may be able to catch the right stock and 3x it but more likely you're going to fail in the process and it would be more similar to gambling. You can play around with it but you should be focusing on earning extra income or finding a better job.
