I disagree. I was graduating college in 2008 and it took a while for the shit really to hit the fan. Not saying we are going to see a big drop off but it is for sure possible. That didn't happen until pretty far after things got bad in 2008, maybe the equivalent of Nov-Dec of this year for timeline? Also when things did really crash, it didn't have a fast rebound like this.

We also haven't seen a huge dip yet. We had that March fall, but, that really only set us back to late 2017 or so.

Delta also makes a lot of money from their credit card, which I know isn't a great place to be right now, but as things recover I think that'll help out alot.

my brainlet can't go that far with DD
all I did was look that the REITs still have liquidity to take advantage of potentially decreasing house prices and that debt repayments are not a concern. Some of the REITs are still paying full dividends because they're diversified enough and only their retail portion was hit hard in Q1.
Q2 will probably be worse but Trudeau has had wage and rent subsidies for businesses since April or something so the small businesses you'd expect to go under by now have (for the most part) stayed afloat to this day.

from what I see so far, the crash on their prices was a huge overreaction and the only reason they haven't recovered that fast values is that our big REITs only trade on the TSE so most people outside Canada can't take advantage of the battered prices (unlike our banks that also trade on NYSE and have already mooned up a bit).

Currently, Fed driven price stability is necessary to fight against shorts. It is a confidence game at this point. The Fed's purchase of high yield bonds was to ensure that these do not default. If the borrower misses their interest payment, the creditor can choose to accelerate the bond (that is, have it mature instantly). Banks will do this as a part of a restructuring since the bond becomes worthless at that point (the borrower is unlikely to pay the full amount). The Fed will choose not to accelerate these corporate bonds so that the underlying stock is kept afloat.

The Fed has no choice. They have to buy these, because if they don't, the American economy would collapse under the current stress (any economy would), and the Fed with it.

After all, if the western stock indices are "not safe", investors will simply move their capital to China as that would be the next best option. Where else would you invest?

This is a race to the bottom. Everyone is crashing simultaneously. We just need to be the last ones to crash. The crash could be deflationary or hyperinflationary at this point so as long as US dollar debt holders foot the bill. That means the tax payer, corporations that buy oil as well as anyone who has borrowed US dollars from China. In a way, these Chinese debt traps help us as these debts allow us to continue running the printing presses. Debt forgiveness would be a catastrophe (forgiving student loan debt, for instance)

Hyperinflation could happen if global trade would seize up as we would have too many dollars and too few goods. Goods made in the USA are about 3-4 times more expensive due to Chinese currency manipulation. So the winners out of this would be US manufacturers, even though the economy would be pretty sluggish when no one could afford basic goods when minimum wage is as high as it is. The only way around this would be UBI, or accelerating wage inflation, or monopoly money reparations.

it's more likely the latter. we're going to get through Q2 just fine on farts and hopium. Q3 is likely to really get the solvency question front and center. Revenues aren't coming back. that's my expectation, but I also think we're going to see a big gap between expected and actual inflation within the year. I would expect that it's going to load the bullet for even more credit expansion and end in that 30% you're talking about.

Luckily, every barrel of oil bought is a dollar debt created. This might change to every ton of natural gas bought is a dollar debt created.

As long as dollar debts are created, hyperinflation can be avoided. Still, a crisis of this magnitude is going to hurt us in 2022 and beyond when it is acceptable and safe to do so, not during a false Marxist revolution + pandemic.

85% of products in cucknada are imported, and the majority of these are from the US. Cucknada's existence literally depends on trade routes with the US. The only reopening happening is because everything is so fucked that the country is already borderline bankrupt with the paltry measures taken so far. Testing was never made available to the general public at all, a situation comparable only to the worst 3rd world countries. Even in south america, people could get tested at will even without symptoms, whereas in cucknada, even with full symptoms, you weren't able to get tested unless you went to china within 14 days of your request.
Most institutions and stores are refusing to 'go back to normal' because they also know shit's fucked. Most unis expect not to open in-person until at least the next winter semester. The quebec province is one of the most affected areas in the world per capita and that's despite the 0 tests among non-celebrities et al.
