It's not so much about left and right, but about human group dynamics. The mistake of the west is that it has fundamentally fallen in the ideological dead end that largely heterogeneous nations are functional. Humans collectivize mainly along ethnic and cultural lines. This can be observed all over history and in modern times too. The bigger the difference in ethnicity and culture the more unlikely or even down right impossible it is for them to form a shared collective.
That is also the reason why immigration works in limited numbers, but doesn't beyond a certain scale. As long as the influx of people of one ethnic or cultural background is limited they will most likely be forced to live among the host population and largely adopt their cultural values. Most likely they intermarry and after 2 or 3 generations can hardly be told apart from the host population, they have been successfully absorbed.
On the other hand when too many arrive at the same time they largely remain separated in their own ethnic pockets within the host nation. They don't adapt the hosts values and culture and instead follow their own. They mostly don't intermarry and remain a separated group for generations. A small collective that lives within the dominant big collective of the host population. Add to that the higher birthrates that is common traits among these groups and you are on a one way path to trouble, big trouble. The larger these collectives grow the less accepting they will be of the host populations customs and culture, instead trying to install their own.
This means that the west will enter a phase of instability and struggle, being more and more absorbed in an internal power struggle.

The analysis that you have provided overlooks the critical importance of USD hegemony. The reason Americans are defending oil in the middle-east is not because they need them to supply oil, it's to ensure that oil is traded in U.S. dollars to maintain a constant monetary demand offsetting the extreme inflation that has been going on since the 70's.

The power of the U.S. depends on the power of the dollar (as it used as a neocolonialist tool today). The same could really be said about the Euro and by extension the CFA Franc in Africa. What we are seeing right now is a monetary breakdown of magnitudes not seen since we went off the gold standard, and if our Western currencies hyperinflate or collapse our role in the world is done for many years to come.

I'd wager that the countries that will come out of this chaos the best are those that have already gone through monetary breakdowns, especially those in South America and perhaps some Asian countries (India in particular).

I have very high hopes for South America, and I'm currently looking into emigrating to Argentina as I think that country has enormous potential as long as the state is curtailed and the welfare state abolished. The U.S. being a consumption-oriented economy is entirely due to being propped up by the aforementioned dollar hegemony. Most of the US trade deficit is foreign capital, not foreign goods. You really need to look at the US breakdown for trade. Excluding NAFTA, the US trade position amounts to ~2% of GDP. With NAFTA, it's like 8.

Peter Zeihan has a really bad habit of just making the assumptions or not looking too far into the actual details of the situation. Sometimes even using terminology incorrectly to mask/manipulate his points.

For example, the previous posts mentioned that the US is "energy independent". The USA could produce it's needs domestically if push really came to shove. However, that's not the definition of "energy independence". That's called "energy security".

Energy independence would require the USA to somehow be able to decouple from the entire world market without any significant kickback. As we saw with the supercontango cause by COVID-19, that hasn't happened. The USA and its energy economy is still greatly affected by world events and took the brunt of the oil price crash with a ton of shale companies looking to be become bankrupt.

To add on to the point of shale companies being greatly vulnerable to world energy markets, it should be noted the significant amount of debt/spending these US oil companies take on where even $40 to the barrel is barely or not even a break even price. Many of them having P/E ratios exceeding 15+ on average. Just look at this image and see CHK who just filed for bankruptcy recently. Notice how high the price of oil would have to be for them to break even. They had no chance in today's oil market and were on the edge pre-COVID.

Had COVID-19 not come on the field that fucked with everyone's oil consumption. Russia and Saudi Arabia could have easily wiped significant portions of US oil/shale companies.

This whole image is based on a faulty premise: that the US Global order was based around containing the Soviet threat. It was never about that. It was about having leverage over other countries to exploit them and make them dependent on the US system, and it was about using government military spending to effectively subsidise trade for big business interests. Neither of these priorities have changed. If the US does secede from their role securing global shipping, it will be because of a reduced capacity to do so rather than a lack of interest.

Well, we would have superior military if we were not being price gouged.

A standard airforce helmet has parts from all 50 states in it because if you cut military funding then it would affect jobs in all 50 states. Therefore, this would make it harder to push cutting price.

As a tail end member of the millennial generation I think we have no future. Once my late cohort of this generation comes into power as GenX did thats when the clown ride really starts. Right now is a preview of collapse light and factor in the greater ethnic collapse of the US, the failure to cultivate a civil national identity in regards to the changing ethic tides and failure to instill a respect for ideals that made the U.S the united states. Effectively we are on a trajectory to become the new Brazil or Argentina (depending on the level of corruption) and maybe South Africa (depending on the pent up racial hatred and violence that may erupt when one side is given the go ahead for reprisals without alarm). If I didn't have loved ones that were still here probably would have fully withdrawn from the world just fucking around on biz or maybe have ended it after a nice bottle of scotch and an hour on my pipe.
