The hair they use in hair transplants is from the back of the head which is DHT resistant ironically enough. It is highly recommended to take finasteride though because you don't want to risk the hair behind the transplant going away.

I always find this argument funny because it makes zero sense. The drug's mechanism of action is very simple. It basically puts a cap on the majority of the receptors that convert T into DHT. If you stop taking the drug this effect goes away. And everything goes back to how it previously was in the body.

It may play some VERY MINOR roles in other parts of the body but the important thing to realize here is that finasteride only reduces levels by 70%. Most people will have plenty left over to perform any very minor functions that it may have. In addition, our bodies are very good at homeostasis and can balance themselves out when minor changes occur.


The horror stories are almost always from degenerate incels who suffer from medical conditions. They proceed to join circlejerk communities and complain about how the drug ruined their life. I recommend you get off the internet forums, read the clinical data, and talk to medical professionals who have real experience prescribing the drug.

you will realize two things

1. The "permanent side effect" talking point is utter bullshit and is only claimed by a extremely minuscule fraction of people who take the drug. If you do any background research into them you will quickly come to the conclusion that mental illnesses or physical health problems are the likely cause of their "limp" dick syndrome.

2. There is literally no evidence that would provide a logical explanation as to why a "permanent side effect syndrome" would even exist. You will see people on anti-finasteride circlejerk forums pass around straws as to why their life is apparently ruined by the drug. From my anecdotal experience I know several guys in their early-mid 20s who have thick hairlines with basically no recession.

Almost all of them can not grow a beard. Some of them just have a few whiskers and that’s it. They also have almost no chest hair if any at all.

On the contrary, I’ve seen guys around the same age who can grow beards and have chest hair. It seems like many of them already have at least some hairline recession.

But I think at the end of the day, nothing is certain. The genetics behind baldness aren’t exactly clear cut.
