They did... well they did once it became necessary. To do it right into that selling pressure wouldn’t have worked. And besides, Powell needed to lay the foundation, he was calling up the ECB and the BOJ and the everyone all the way to the Bank of Mexico on down.

And i don’t really think stocks are their main concern anyways. They are a mechanism constructed to engineer economic growth by controlling and optimizing inflation and employment. They are a tool that is being used in the wealth transfer, but I suspect they’re more of a fall guy.
