I don't think this crab will last. The VIX is basically yelling that the market doesn't know where to go and is waiting for news. But there is so MUCH money out there that has nowhere to go. The bull run is what everyone remembers and so that will be the default choice.
Also TQQQ paired with TMF actually blunts a lot of the beta slippage since they (usually) inverse each other. The point is that if its a rocket to the moon or a drill into the center of the earth it will be ready. I am also not going full balls to the wall here. Every time there is uncertainty, the flight is into FAANG with a lot of tech riding its coattails. The doombull god would just 100% into FNGU but this is almost the same as going all in on TVIX IMO.

Of course SOXL is not SSO but it's playing a similar game. You're correct that some companies have massive cash reserves. That's part of the reason why people love companies like AAPL right now. The majority of the market including financials are still swamped with debt, junky swaps and securities, and other things that will be bailed out forcefully by Fed purchases.
